Issues with the rotation are very simple, they are not good enough to win a title and regardless of what happens in Houston these are the facts. Relievers are a dime a dozen. Bailey had 1 good year at age 25 then the K Rate declined big time. There was a reason Beane let him go, he knew time was running out to get max value. Reddick in the minors was a player who generated extra base hits 40 plus percent of the time he reached base, which the Scouts will tell you translates to gap power at any level, more times than not. Bust trade then and it would be a bust trade now to deal JBJ for anything less for a Verlander type arm or a JDMartinez type hitter. See CSmith. This is why its critical to develop your own Relievers in the ML System. It's to much of a risk to trade any prospect of value for a relief pitcher. So far Kimbrel has been the real deal but as we see the HR's allowed are starting to climb this season. -

Dombrowski missed the boat on Verlander and Cole. Will he make the same mistake this deadline? Make the call on Odorizzi Hamels (depending on vesting option?) Fullmer, Harvey, Wheeler, Ross and maybe the great Kershaw. Tax strapped is a beautiful thing ain't it my friends

As good as Cherington was he was equally as bad see 2013 Draft. At #7 the best player on the board per all scouts was AMeadows and he chose Ball? Priceless. Anyone check Meadows stats recently?

Your a Power Pitcher short in the rotation. Just imagine if this Team was not tax strapped and you added Verlander last season. The Team would be the clear cut favorite in the AL with Verlander this year. Thanks Ben

You pay elite players big money not slugs! Porcello Ramirez Sandoval Castillo Price all bust. Your going to shell out 8 or 9 mill for a guy like Kelly because of one good year is exactly how Boston is up against the tax threshold right now.

Last 100 AB for HR at .198 with a .250 OBPCT Priceless! I like Hanley, he is a player I root for but the numbers do not lie since he signed here in Boston. Bust! I give the Player until the end of June. Hitting woes continue flat out release him. I would doubt there is any clause in his deal that says "his option vest" if released, then again anything Cherington did those years far as contract clauses would not surprise me. Add Porcello to the list and there is your Harper money!
