  1. 10 hits from our top 5......not bad.
  2. The roster is all set up for the playoff chase....that became very clear when the trading deadline past. There's really not much more Bloom can do now. We now wait only on Houck's return. I would think Rafaela would help with his defense and speed but who drops if he get the call?
  3. Glad to see Cora take out Crawford and not worry about giving him a chance at a 'win'. They are all must games now and managed as such.
  4. Cubs, White Sox and the Reds games are the games blacked out on my MLB subscriptions. Fox games are on MLB tv. Not ESPN. Not Peacock. Screw the Friday night Apple TV games. Ugh. I'm okay with MLB raising my fee to cover the cost of black out games, within reason of course.
  5. During 2022, I did chuckled at what the Rangers did. Signed Seager to 10 year, $325M deal and Semien to a 7 year, $175M deal. The team did not look much better to me. At least they were not on my radar. But the owner tried. Ranger then followed those signings with adding a slew of quality starting pitchers. It was a two year plan now looking back. I hope we are at year one of two year 'go for it' plan. Our core group is emerging position wise. It's time to do whatever to add starting pitchers. Trade some farmhands if you have to. Sign some free agents. We have in the pen, possibly, Whitlock, Houck, Schreiber, Winckowski, Pivetta, Martin, Janssen, Crawford, Bernadino, etc. Couple of them might start. If we don't go for it in 2024, I'll be very disappointed.
  6. Rafaela can also play short. We conplain about D. Duvall goes 0-4 with 4 K' s last night. He looked stupid in RF. He does NOTHING for me.
  7. Not sure why it took so long to get Reyes back. I got the sense they were working on a Kike trade. He is more valuable than Chang. I read somewhere Chang is not good at 2B.
  8. Rafaela is superb defender. I'm not advocating whole slew of AAA guys to come to Boston. But I like to see Rafaela sooner rather than later.
  9. Bernadino, Jacques along with Murphy and Walter have come up. But I cede to your point. Bello, Whitlock, Houck, Schreiber, Winckowski are all under team control for few years.
  10. Never forget that we had one of our best starters Paxton pitching the game 1 in a crucial series. He got hammered for multiple home runs. We also had a chance to win game 2 but poor baseball plays doomed us. Sale should pitch the openers. But our astute baseball people will insist on wasting his bullets facing minor leaguers for multiple starts. How many games does Story need to get up to speed? Ugh.
  11. Our pitching #10-#13 needs an upgrade. Sale, Whitlock and Houck will help. I get that once you're in the playoffs, anything can happen. I'm just not convinced Sox can do it this year even we get a wildcard spot. It's almost time to bring up Rafaela and see if he can play RF for outgoing Verdugo.
  12. We often chose offense over defense. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's ugly.
  13. Xander, 52 runs, 11 HR, 37 RBI in 400 AB. First year of 11 year, $25M+ AAV contract. No thanks
  14. We need back up plan, A, B & C.
  15. Sale Bello Crawford Houck Whitlock I hope he goes after the Japanese pitcher. The phenom.
  16. I'm extremely happy with the emergence of Duran, Casas, Wong and Bello. Bloom did extend Devers. I guess we can blame Bloom for signing injury prone players such as Sale, Paxton and Story. I was okay with Kike signing had he played centerfield and 2B, not shortstop. I am NOT saying I knew beforehand Kike was bad at short. I had no idea. Kluber just sucks. I like this team.
  17. As trade deadline approaches, Red Sox listening on Alex Verdugo (sources) I seem to get mocked when I suggested the Sox may trade Verdugo to get a controlled starting pitcher (I think it was Moon) or that somehow I make things up. Well here it is. It matters NOT what anyone here thinks. It matters MOST what Bloom and his underlings are thinking. The theme is this and 99% of posters get it. BUILD THE CORE GROUP TO GO AFTER TITLES. That means productive players under TEAM CONTROL. Unfortunately for both Pivetta and Verdugo, they are in their Arbitration Year 2, meaning one more year before hitting FA. The article CONFIRMS there's been no discussion of extension with the Verdugo camp. Now that's not to say that it won't happen over the winter. My feeling is Bloom is comfortable with prospects of Rafaela and Abreu coming up and filling the spots in outfield next year. Maybe not in the spring but by mid-summer. You can always find a Duvall to fill in for awhile.
  18. Maybe you should sit this one out, Moon. You and Bellhorn will fight for Kike till the end? I'm with Notin on this. Cora hurt our chances of getting into the playoffs because of him not acting quickly enough on resolving the issue of Kike playing short. Period. Am I wrong?
  19. Geez, when did most of his days off happened? I'm taking a guess. When he was batting .100?
  20. You really have become an apologist for Kike. Who the heck knows what half the things people say are true or not. Despite having the WORST WAR in the majors, Kike was complaining about lack of consistent playing time. A good team player would have said "I need to make most of the opportunity I do get and help this team".....is it time for you to color your hair and wear pink shoes?
  21. Not sure the urgency to move Trevor to short. Unless Sox are planning to play Turner at 2B more than once a week. I get it that you don't want to shuffle Trevor from 2B to SS every other game.....but I sure would want to protect his arm. We have a big investment in this guy. He needs to be on the field and not in the dugout.
  22. Trevor Story's contract. He is signed through 2027, thus he has 4 years remaining. There is a club option for $25M for 2028 with a $5M buyout. Trevor can opt out after 2025 BUT SOX CAN NEGATE THAT BY PICKING UP THE 2028 CLUB OPTION. Got it? Never seen this type of a contract before. Basically he's here until 2027, and maybe through 2028, unless he's traded. He does get his 10 years of major league service in after the 2025 season. My head is spinning.
  23. Max Scherzer agreed not to exercise his opt out after 2023 (doubt he would have at $43M). Texans and the Mets basically splitting the $43M for 2024 season. A good deal for both teams.
  24. It's odd that in another chat site, fans were insinuating that Kike was selfish and some of his teammates were getting tired of his me first antics.
  25. Bring up a guy that can field ss. There must be hundreds of these guys. You know defense first shortstops. Christ we got Reyes from Oakland for $75K. Think hard about that. What option did a ball club with $215M payroll have? You guys kill me.
