  1. Richards pitches 5 innings, gives up 4 runs, only 3 earned runs and we do backflips for his stellar performance. Such is the state of Red Sox. I'm not worried as long as Cora is not worried. Who was the poster that told me I was all wet for saying Barnes is regressing?
  2. Barnes is settling into his old self.
  3. Chris Sale To Undergo Tommy John Surgery By Mark Polishuk | March 19, 2020 at 4:04pm CDT Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale will undergo Tommy John surgery, as per a team announcement. Sale will be out of action for roughly the next 12-15 months, as per the usual recovery timeline, and will miss all of the 2020 season. .700hitter Doesn’t make much sense as to why they waited....jacksonianmarch If he had the surgery last July/August, he might be ready for the 2021 season. Moon Sale slated to start Saturday vs. Orioles per mlb.com Sale's last big league start was on Aug. 13, 2019. Four days later, he was placed on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation. He eventually had Tommy John surgery on March 30, 2020, which was also his 31st birthday. Let's not forget how inept our medical staff has been over the years.
  4. And then there are posters here that are full of themselves. The I'm smarter than you bunch. You had the bring up Duran bunch, which included myself. And then there are the God's of all knowing baseball group, insisting trust Bloom and Cora. THEY WILL KNOW WHEN TO CALL HIM UP. Well the first group HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH DURAN BEING CALLED UP. Bloom and Cora did. Now the so called experts on this Board is laughing at us? Let's take a bit further. If Duran sucks, why are we holding onto those so called TOP PROSPECTS like they are worth something? You can't have it both ways. I'm glad Duran is on our roster. I love watching him play. I do not have Bloom's cell phone number. He promoted Duran. Make sure you don't hurt yourself patting yourself on the back.
  5. We have dumb players and they suffer no consequences for their carelessness. Gonzalez led off the seventh with a walk, then Vázquez singled. But Gonzalez got picked off second base by catcher Reese McGuire. Vázquez, who took second base when Gonzalez got stuck in a rundown, then was thrown out trying to steal third base. Marwin is Cora guy, he does no wrong.
  6. No one is going to care how well we play before the All Star break next year. We know they'll crack. It'll be tough winter trying to sell season tickets.
  7. Just wasted a single
  8. My exact thought
  9. I think it's time to bang the drums at Fenway.....
  10. Because Cora is not worried about pitching...
  11. Marwin now 2-14 since return..........does he ever go on a hot streak?
  12. I'll trust my own eyes.......he was nasty early. It may not have anything to do with foreign substance.
  13. Matt Barnes will revert back to what he used to be....he has not been dominant ever since the stickygate...
  14. This goes back to what Moon and I think is needed. You build the staff from top down. Find someone at #1 and the entire staff benefits by dropping down one spot. Now it's still possible and hopefully that role will be filled by Chris Sale at some point. If not 2021, then in 2022 when he's been 'out' for almost two years. Give Yankees credit, they have that pitcher in G Cole. They also have two additional starters that will eventually come off the IL. Sox needs to give Whitlock and Houck every opportunity to become a starter in 2022. With our current financial situation, we probably need to retain E Rod and go with this starting rotation. Yes, we need 6. Sale Eovaldi E Rod Pivetta Houck Whitlock I'm pretty sure someone will be hurt from time to time. AND HOPE THAT WHITLOCK WILL OUTPERFORM EXPECTATIONS. E Rod will be another year away from 2020, Whitlock, Houck and Pivetta all should be improving.
  15. See below....he could have said "Yeah, we're struggling a bit"....he made himself look stupid. Don't give me crap about well what's he going to say? You don't say no I'm not concerned.
  16. Pérez posted a 4.77 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and .298 batting average against in 22 starts this season. He posted a 7.13 ERA and .363 batting average against in his past 11 starts. “The stuff is a lot better than the results,” Cora said. yeah sure it is....I thought when he was going good, his results were lot better than his stuff...
  17. Chris Sale likely to return to Boston Red Sox after rehab start for Worcester on Saturday; ‘It feels like it’s the last one’ Nah, let's have him make couple more starts to make sure he's okay.
  18. But it's apparently there..... So if we had Betts, we'd be at $240M and still no pitching..... He would have helped us....but still no pitching....
  19. Having two dead contracts really hamstrung Bloom at trade deadline. $16M for Price and $13M for Pedroia. We could have absorbed the entire contracts for better return. He simply had no money to work.
  20. With that you prove my point......sometimes it's better to trade a black chip for two red chips.....not too many "can't miss prospects". Let's examine Devers. Is he a once in a lifetime type player? Would you pay him $30M for 12 years before his free agency? Or is it better to trade him for two established young major leaguer? A starting pitcher and a position player not yet in arbitration?
  21. 1 prospect each team should call up per mlb.com Red Sox: Triston Casas, 1B (No. 1/MLB No. 29) Casas is starring at the Olympics right now, homering three times in five games as Team USA has advanced to the gold-medal game. The Red Sox traded for Kyle Schwarber to try to address their deficiencies at first base, but he never has played the position while Casas is an accomplished defender there. The 2018 first-rounder from a Florida high school is a slugger with a polished approach, and he has batted .271/.354/.424 with six homers in 46 Double-A games at age 21. Why the hell not.....we're rebuilding...Santana, Marwin, Dalbec....they've set low standards
  22. Yeah but they owned the umpires in the coliseum.
  23. Not here to bash Bloom but He's not had to sign expensive free agents with the Rays organization. That's not his experience and maybe not in his wheelhouse. He's made good trades to upgrade our team, such as bringing over Pivetta. It remains to be seen what his ceiling will be. He's definite upgrade over what we had in 2020. Picking up Whitlock on Rule 5 on mere thousands was also a great pickup. But lets examine potentially having to pay Richards $10M if his option is not picked up in 2021. That amount would represent the highest payroll on Rays team. I doubt that's a move he'd been allowed to make in the Rays organization. Only saving grace is it was only for a year. As Sox fans we're conditioned to think nothing of pissing away few million here and few million there. But that attitude is exactly what got us to where we are luxury payroll tax wise. Then all the sudden the Boss says NO. I'm not sure how long this 'rebuild' is going to take. As we wait on younger players to develop, our established players are getting older, possibly opting out, or require bigger contracts which will keep the team toeing the luxury tax line. I just don't want to give Bloom a pass for pissing away $10M on a player that maybe DFA'd.
  24. On Thursday, starter Martín Pérez lasted just 1 ⅓ innings before Cora turned to the bullpen and recently acquired relievers Hansel Robles and Austin Davis combined to give up five runs on eight hits. The Sox committed just one error but were sloppy defensively while going 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and leaving 11 men on base. Nice pick ups by the way.......
