  1. Nope...Free Agent. Signed a one year deal. Strictly a rental at this point.
  2. We gotta keep Schwarber.
  3. Duran, Duran on second....good strategy to make the last out....
  4. For a CPA, I'm not good with numbers.
  5. Reverse pychology....you sure are gullible
  6. Runners left on base 14 Sox 20 Guardians
  7. Pick up his option and make him the closer
  8. Here comes a wild pitch and game over.
  9. He has faced 3 batters....why not bring in Whitlock?
  10. I hope Whitlock is warming up
  11. That and penchant for walking the 9th batter.
  12. When is Renfroe coming back?
  13. I was implying that the return may not as good as many here think. He's valued by the Sox as a major contributor. Others may see $100M obligation for 5 years as too much risk. They maybe thinking you're not getting anything. We've assumed $100M contract. Problem with big contract is there are only handful of teams that can pay.
  14. Yankees are going to be tough to catch. 2 vs A's 3 vs Angel's 6 vs Orioles 3 vs Rangers 3 vs Cleveland 3 vs Mets 7 vs Blue Jays 3 vs Red Sox 1 vs Twins Now that will be a must watch wild card game, Sox vs the Evil Empire.
  15. I agree. One day of mental health day should be enough. Maybe have that day around an off day. JD is a professional hitter. He needs to be in the lineup.
  16. 0-15 night from our top 5
  17. We've scored 4 runs on 3 hits....Big Red Machine, 2021 version
  18. Arroyo can't catch a break this season.
  19. Bloom is probably okay with our offense. It's pretty simple really. 1. Evaluate new CBA. 2. Bloom will not pursue JD if he opts out. 3. Will not rely soley on Dalbec as the 1B. But he'll keep Dalbec. He's cheap. 4. Team will evaluate how Schwarber plays 1B. Or if JD opts out, Sox will pursue Schwarber. 5 Arroyo will be our starting 2B in 2022. 6. Duran will be on the mlb roster 7 Kike will start at whatever position that needs help. Probably start in CF on opening day. 8. 2 catchers, Dalbec, Arroyo, Xander, Devers, Verdugo, Kike, Renfroe, JD. Will add a left handed hitting 1B and Duran, that's 12 if Cora wants 14 pitchers. Basically, savings from Pedroia's money will be given to Schwarber. I'm good with JD opting out. $22M frees up and that's not a bad thing.
  20. Well I was thinking more in line of replacement for JD, whose tax payroll is $22M. Getting Schwarber at less than $15M would help. He's as good left fielder as JD in my opinion. Or we can go with the committee approach for DH. Use regulars to fill that role. That, I'm sure will be cheaper.
  21. I've followed Schwarber ever since his college days at IU. He caught and batted second, which I thought at the time was rather odd, catcher hitting second. He has always been a hitter. I don't think that'll change.
  22. I'm okay with that. One of the three, Duran has already made an appearance with the parent club so we're down to Mayer and Casas. Casas maybe the heir apparent for JD. (not position wise, but bat wise). If Xander remains with the Sox, then Mayer should be his replacement. Let's just hope #1 ranked draft prospect by many will not be a bust.
  23. I was approaching the topic from what is Bloom's thinking when it comes to contracts with opt outs. Is Devers more of a priority than giving a raise to Xander? In theory, if his market value is MUCH HIGHER than $20M, then shouldn't we receive handful of top prospects for him? Is that a better alternative and focus more on Devers' extension? JD's money will eventually come off the books but his bat will need to be replaced, hopefully with Schwarber. If Bloom's approach is never to go all in, then I doubt we'll see player raises for guys already signed. Maybe grant an extension but not rework the contract.
  24. When drafted, many thought he would move right into the Sox pen. Glad to see he's still working to get to the majors.
  25. Moon, your thoughts on what it would take to sign Schwarber. Would 6 years, $90M do it? Would Bloom give out a 6 year deal? Is he worth the money we gave JD?
