  1. We are fortunate at this point to have Signed Schwarber Dalbec getting hot Arroyo back healthy Verdugo beginning to warm up We now have depth so that we can plug in Schwarber as DH to rest JD for example. Tonight I believe Dalbec will move to 3B, Schwarber to 1B and Devers to DH. Arroyo is at 2B, Kike back in CF as Xander returns. Offensively we should be set to compete next 34 games. We need JD to warm up.
  2. Wildcard teams' win totals 2019 97-96 2018 100-97 2017 91-85 2016 89-89 2015 87-86 I always thought 90 was the magic number. We need to go 17-16 to get to 90. To get to 90 win total. 17-16 Red Sox 20-14 Oakland 21-13 Seattle 24-12 Toronto 15-20 Yankees to get to 90
  3. I seriously doubt that....name a team and the players they would give up...
  4. Watching Twins' shortstop makes me think wow, that glove can help a team. Just not worried about Xander opting out. $20M/year for multiple years is nothing to snooze at. $19.3M is nothing to snooze at for our esteemed JD. Looks to me like he's replaceable with someone like Schwarber for less money. There are talent out there. We need to trust Bloom. There's a notion on this board that we need to pay Xander whatever he wants to keep him. That's why our payroll is bloated. Serious question. What do we get in return for Xander in a trade if he had no opt out?
  5. I like his chances vs the Yankees in a one game playoff. He'll negate their lefties.
  6. He's a good poster but his frequency here is strictly tied to how the Yankees are doing.
  7. Don't hit into DP
  8. So Twins have their own version of Barnes.
  9. I think we can go over with the thought in 2023 JD will be gone and the Price money will be gone, that's another $33M in savings.
  10. Would Schwarber go for something like 6 year $90M?
  11. what do we get if he turns us down?
  12. We just need to sign Schwarber. Team is pretty well set assuming no one gets hurt. $20.000M SS Xander 2022, opt out? $10.000M 1B Kyle FA $07.000M CF Kike 2022 $04.575M 3B Devers A2, A3 $03.100M RF Hunter A3, A4 $00.650M LF Verdugo A1, A2, A3 $00.582M 2B Arroyo A1, A2, A3 $04.517M C Vaz 2022 team option $22.000M DH JD 2022 he can opt out after 2021 That's only $75M before arbitration raises and Schwarber signing. There should be enough money left over to upgrade the pitching staff.
  13. He's done a pretty good imitating as a starter as he is now pitching in front of Richards and Perez.
  14. Absolutely no way in hell. If you have a starter quality pitcher, you let him start. Whitlock is such a pitcher. That's what the management has stated they want to do. He's under team control for another 5 years. If a guy can take the ball every 5th day, 32 times a year, then that's what you do with him. Starting pitching is more expensive than relievers. We can have cheap options in Pivetta and Whitlock. Sale Eovaldi Pivetta add Whitlock Houck If we find others in our system, then you let them compete for either as a starter or as a reliever.
  15. Not Barnes....he needs to go on a 10 day sick leave. He has said that fatigue factors into his mechanics being out of whack. He needs rest. That's what he's told us. Cora should listen to him.
  16. Fatigue has nothing to do with Barnes' demise. He's not spinning the ball as he did earlier in the year.
  17. Luckily Rays got this one wrong. Heading into the season, most expected that Renfroe would be the starting right fielder against lefties and an occasional righty. After all, he was non-tendered by the Rays before the Red Sox got him for the modest price tag of $3 million for one year. However, Renfroe has emerged as a mainstay in manager Alex Cora’s lineup, starting 108 of Boston’s first 125 games. Renfroe has 22 homers, just one fewer than J.D. Martinez. The right-handed-hitting veteran has held his own against righties, belting 14 homers to go with a .755 OPS. Defensively, he’s been tremendous, leading the league with 14 outfield assists.
  18. I'm officially dead. Someone has already invented clustering factor in baseball? And you kept that secret from me? I've been a fan for over 50 years and that is first I heard of it?
  19. Because I want Devers to bat with runners on base. Why not? That's where he hit most of the year until Cora started to jack around the lineup. You just go against me to just go against me don't you. It's ok......just my observation.
  20. Cora was stubborn about Kike but he moved everyone else around the last month. Now it's Schwarber instead of Verdugo and our 1-5 looks solid.
  21. Cora finally saw my e-mail and placed Schwarber second in the lineup. Stupid to put Devers 2 when you have Schwarber. I swear I can do his job. They'd don't even have to pay me.
  22. They play good defense. They're able to score despite not having bunch of $10M hitters.
  23. Nothing good happens without quality starting pitching staff. Need starters that can right the ship when the team goes south. Now we're down to Chris Sale because our manager doesn't trust Houck. He trusts every other lousy pitchers on our staff.
  24. you beat me to it.
  25. We have $30M in dead money. Our luxury tax payroll for 'active' players is $180M. Think what we could had added for $30M? Maybe we wouldn't have signed Richards, thus giving us a war chest of $40M. That doesn't include not having Sale for most of the year. We need to get through the Pedey/Price phase. It's possible we're looking at 2023 for going all in when JD/Eovaldi is gone. That's total of $70M. It will be time to take another shot at an ace.
