  1. I'm not trying to say that Sale isn't good, but it's interesting that since the trade deadline Sale: 21.2 IP, 4.15 ERA E-Rod: 21.2 IP, 2.08 ERA Pomeranz: 19 IP, 2.37 ERA One of these other 2 pitchers would probably have been gone in a trade for Sale.
  2. I agree, but he's pretty good at it. Very subtle.
  3. Isn't that a complete game for Price? That's his 2nd. He's tied for fourth in the AL
  4. I'd rather see Joe Kelly come up.
  5. I think Papi's feet might be slowing him down so to speak. His numbers aren't that good since the all star break. I would like to see him get considerable time off the next two months so he's ready to rip if/when the postseason gets here.
  6. Hamstring injuries are almost never short lived. I'll be surprised if he comes back this year.
  7. I always like parking at Riverside on the Green Line, it's actually subway not commuter rail, but it's a straight shot to Fenway. It also depends on where you're coming from though.
  8. One thing that stuck with me from that game is when Tito took out Tomlin after he got an out. There is likely a big difference in how a pitcher feels about his game when he finishes with an out compared to a hit. I can't remember the last time when Farrell did that with a starter. Yesterday was the perfect chance when Pomeranz got the second out of the inning and the top of the order was coming up.
  9. Hall of Fame is a lot about longevity. I'd say he needs 5 more years that are better than his last 5. Look at Craig Biggio. It took him 3 years to get in and Pedroia has a long ways to go to reach his numbers.
  10. I agree with you here, but it's something a lot of managers do that I don't understand. Like you said earlier, the chance of the catcher getting injured is insignificant and even on the rare case that he did Holt can actually catch if absolutely needed. I would bet there's a lot of players who could catch if they had to.
  11. I would say whatever the details are it means it's personal and none of our business. I'm glad media isn't reporting on it.
  12. Top of the order now. Let's get some runs.
  13. I call it the Jared Weaver syndrome.
  14. Interesting nick name. I doubt it will stick.
  15. Pomeranz ERA is now below 5 with the redsox.
  16. Tomlin leads the league in HRs. Maybe Beni can get his first HR.
  17. That helped him pop out on a 3-0 pitch. C'mon Papi, you're killing this team.
  18. I agree with this. I like him as DH, and giving Shaw a rest occasionally vs lefties.
  19. What does $60M have to do with it? They're paying him that regardless. If he could help the team or there's any real chance of trading him for something, play him.
  20. Good point, but neither did the first base coach.
  21. I would be surprised if that was on him. It's probably on the players/first base coach to make sure they are running 3-2 with 2 outs.
  22. Most managers would have done the same thing. Farrell would have been lit up if he left E-Rod in and he gave up a run. Hindsight is great isn't it.
  23. That's always the easiest complaint to make after the fact isn't it? If the bullpen gives up runs, they took the starter out too early, if the starter gives up runs he stayed in too long. Take last night for example. So far this year E-Rod has thrown more than 93 pitches 6 times. In 5 of those games he gave up at least 1 run in his last inning. In 4 of the games he didn't make it through the last inning. It was a 1 run game, taking him out was the right choice.
  24. You must have misread the article. It's more can't blame the manager for every loss. Seems reasonable to me.
  25. Where are these numbers from? According to ESPN stats, none of them are correct.
