  1. Join the Red Sox offseason chat to go live around 5:15 pm EDT at MLB Trade Rumors: https://www.jotcast.com/chat/red-sox-live-chat-14199.html
  2. To elaborate: Chaim Bloom was in the Tampa Bay front office at the trade deadline in 2018 when the Rays traded Chris Archer to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Tyler Glasnow, Shane Baz and Austin Meadows. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/meadoau01.shtml#all_transactions_other Infamously.
  3. What about pursuing 27-year-old leftfielder Austin Meadows, whom Baseball Trade Values lists as a non-tender candidate in Detroit? https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/non-tender-candidates-from-each-team/
  4. More on Jesse Winker and the Seattle Mariners: https://sports.mynorthwest.com/1680585/whats-next-for-mariners-and-jesse-winker-mlb-insiders-react/
  5. No player is untouchable but Jesse Winker may not be high on Seattle's list of available players.
  6. An Over the Monster blogger examines Jesse Winker as a Red Sox trade target: https://www.overthemonster.com/2022/10/20/23411582/where-are-the-deals-jesse-winker-edition
  7. It's Dipoto with a lower-case p. Then again, Valdez offers his unusual spelling of the first name of the nearly 24-year-old 18th-ranked prospect for the Red Sox. Jesse Winker may a designated hitter batting leadoff for the 2023 Seattle Mariners. Or not.
  8. In the case of Julio Rodriguez it means being culturally appropriate role model who knows the strike zone.
  9. The Athletic beat reporter Jen McCaffrey names Chris Bassitt and Carlos Rodon as likely free agent pitching targets for the Red Sox: https://theathletic.com/3691118/2022/10/19/red-sox-free-agent-pitching-targets-xander-bogaerts-contract-predictions-and-more-mailbag-part-1/ Subscription required.
  10. Julio Rodriguez would likely be disappointed. Eric Hosmer is not replacing All Star first baseman Ty France and Seattle manager Scott Servais prefers to rotate players through the DH slot ... although that could be Jesse Winker's primary role next year.
  11. Carlos Santana served as the caddy for 21-year-old Julio Rodriguez ... and a good caddy at that.
  12. I've read of Seattle fans who covet Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, Trevor Story and other Red Sox. Eric Hosmer does not fall into that category.
  13. Seattle manager Scott Servais on Wednesday defended Jesse Winker in veiled reference to the report that Winker was lazy and disliked by teammates: https://www.lookoutlanding.com/2022/10/19/23413683/mariners-end-of-season-press-conference-free-agency-injury-updates-looking-forward The takeaway from Wednesday's postseason media conference was that the Mariners may have trouble making room for Kyle Lewis, Taylor Trammell, Jesse Winker and Abraham Toro as well as pending free agents Mitch Haniger, Carlos Santana and Adam Frazier. First baseman Eric Hosmer would be a surprising pickup when fellow former Gold Glove winner Evan White probably has more upside on the far, far end of the Seattle bench.
  14. The reference was to the repeated reminders over the years that the Seattle Mariners had not been to the postseason since 2001. Trevor Story (with his underwater contract) was mentioned as a trade piece.
  15. More detail on Seattle Times beat writer Ryan Divish's comments about Jesse Winker: https://twitter.com/JoeVeyera/status/1582444432494047232/photo/1
  16. The shtick never ends.
  17. From Tuesday report at MLB Trade Rumors: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/10/dodgers-friedman-gomes-discuss-roberts-kershaw-bellinger-turner.html
  18. In response to a post about outfield trade candidates, Jesse Winker's name was offered. Thank you asking about about "Winker (2.1) and Flexen (0.3)."
  19. FWIW the Mariners were undefeated against the AL East in the postseason and cumulatively outscored postseason opponents over five games. Yordan Alvarez was a thorn despite being retired in 11 of 17 plate appearances against Seattle in the American League Divisional Series. In terms of a Jesse Winker trade, the Red Sox don't have much to offer. Trevor Story and $40 million?
  20. Any interest in one year of Seattle outfielder Jesse Winker at $8.25 million? Winker may have fallen out of favor in Seattle: https://twitter.com/MarinersSUR/status/1582397824209416192 Or not.
  21. Michael Conforto Joc Pederson Cody Bellinger if non-tendered by Dodgers
  22. Hey, the Mariners probably posted a Pythagorean record of 1-2 after being outscored only 13-9 in a three-game series.;)
  23. Notify me when the discussion returns to baseball.
  24. The Red Sox have bounced back from four last-place finishes over the past decade or so but the current challenges may be even more daunting. Should be a fascinating year or two.
  25. Columnist Mark Polishuk at MLB Trade Rumors offers his offseason outlook for the Red Sox: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/10/offseason-outlook-boston-red-sox-12.html
