  1. Someone said today that if JBJ does something right they'd hear about it. Well, there is is!
  2. Get serious. Beni makes that play every day for fun. How many times do you see a ball hit the ground in that area?? NEVER when Beni is out there. And the catch was shaky too. That's the JDM I saw in ST.
  3. Don't do that. It's not nice to mess with us old people!
  4. No. THere's just been an ongoing discussion in the forum regarding how competent JDM is in the OF.
  5. Better than THAT? I'd hope so!!
  6. No Kidding!!?? What are you going to be doing? Not standing in for the tackling dummys I hope. :-)
  7. How was the first year at UConn? You going back?
  8. True. What you do has to be automatic.
  9. Showing clips from the 1999 All-Star game with Ted Williams. I was there. It was my defining moment as a Red Sox fan, and I'll unabashedly admit that I cried like a little girl when Williams came on the field.
  10. The worst thing a fielder can do is think about his throw.
  11. Interesting stuff, Mal. That puts Mookie in pretty good company.
  12. Guriel choked. He wanted to make up for what happened last night and botched the throw.
  13. Mookie is just plain on f***in' fire.
  14. I think this winning streak has spoiled me. I now expect a win at game time every day/night & I'm going to be majorly disappointed if they lose.
  15. Check out the title of this thread. There are several posters here who apparently believe that offense is ~70% of the game and defense is the other ~30%. That's why this thread even exists.
  16. Aha! The first admitted convert!!
  17. So in a nutshell we need to help JDM boost his average enough to win the triple crown.
  18. It was just a general comment about how good the outfielders - and the CF'ers in particular - are in the AL now. My thoughts immediately went to JBJ, how good he [is/could be if his offense were better] and how difficult it would be for him - or any OF in the AL - to win that award this year. There's a bunch of good OF'ers out there!
  19. As O'B alluded to last night, how tough is the MVP race in the AL now when JBJ could (I said COULD) end up with an OPS >.900 and not get a sniff at that award?
  20. Gee, who would have thought that the Sox weren't giving him a chance to prove how good he really is? I know it's a SSS & all, but after last month/week I feel like I'm 2 for 2. JBJ AND Swihart.
  21. I think those of us who believe that we've seen the REAL JBJ have to get used to it. The next time he goes 0-3 -and it will happen - we'll be hearing the cries of "Trade him NOW while his value is high!!" Fortunately Dave is running the team and not the naysayers on TalkSox.
  22. Some teams find a way to win. Others find a way to lose. I'm still not sure which of those happened last night. A combination of the two?
  23. Hitting the ball where it's pitched. The first three pitches were down and in & he laid off them. Then he got one on the outside of the plate and BAM!
