  1. I didn't realize that the game was on NESN last night until later in the game so I watched the first few innings on ESPN. It was heartening to hear those three knowledgeable baseball guys in the booth (not to be confused with The Three Monkeys of the previous night) ...anyway.... to hear them say that maybe Mike Trout ISN'T the best player in baseball right now and that honor may go to Mookie Betts. Yeah, it may cost a king's ransom to keep him but I'll worry about that when the time comes. Right now I'm going to enjoy watching him play and help the Sox win. After all, it's never a bad idea to have the best player in baseball on your team.
  2. I may have mentioned this before but it always amuses me that when our opponents don't score it's because our pitching was stellar but when the Sox don't score it's because our hitters suck.
  3. I may very well be the biggest JBJ fanboy here and I was thrilled to see his bunt. Not only did it get him on base it could serve to notify other teams that if they're going to shift on him they're going to have to pay the price for it. Maybe a few of those bunts will force other teams to play him more 'straight up' and thereby improve his "luck". Of course even if that works and his BA improves to .270 and his OPS remains at ~.700 there will be those who will be screaming to trade him because "he's lost his power".
  4. We stole one tonight. How often are you going to see a pitcher drive in three runs? How often off Scherzer?
  5. Actually 5 outs tonight.
  6. Beni didn't look too confident after making that catch!
  7. I don't like how many pitches Kimbrel is throwing here. Ugh
  8. ya. It's a double switch to move Kimbrel's spot down in the order.
  9. Nice...by JBJ. Now can we put to bed the thought that JBJ can't bunt and replace it by JBJ should bunt more?
  10. Holy crap> I didn't know NESN had the game. I;ve been watching on ESPN. THanks!
  11. I just got a text message from my son. He's at the game tonight. Said it looks like 40% of the crowd is Sox fans. He also said the crowd went bonkers when Porcillo hit that double.
  12. If you're trying to lure me into a continuation of last night's game's discussion regarding length it's not going to work! LOL
  13. Rule #1: Do not run on Mookie's arm.
  14. Three Monkeys last night. See no baseball Hear no baseball Say no baseball There's even room for a 4th- Know no baseball.
  15. Great. And the really good news is that you don't have to listen to the Three Stooges who broadcast for ESPN last night.
  16. The three ESPN guys were falling all over themselves laughing about the Scherzer/Porcillo match-up. Baseball IS a funny game.
  17. C'mon Moon. This isn't about one start. It's about his history. His career ERA is 3.20 and his playoff ERA is just over 5.00 in ten games. Even if you want to call ten games over his career a small sample size it can't be just dismissed offhand because every sample size means something if it's the only one you've got. The fact is that if you send him out there to pitch in a playoff game you're hoping that that day's results will be an outlier. I actually like having Price on the team. As I've said, he'll get you to the playoffs and in order to win it you first have to get there. Given that I'm undecided if his salary is too high. However, he would be my fourth choice to start a playoff game, which means the only start he gets is in an emergency situation.
  18. The good news is that Price's wins will get this team to the playoffs. The bad news is that he can't be trusted to pitch in a playoff game.
  19. Ya. As long as we keep him away from the good teams we'll be ok.
