Obviously BTV isn’t the definitive source on acceptable trades, but their neutrality on the whole thing offsets the nature of many fans overvaluing their prospects.
I mean, the Sox have what? Three top 100 prospects? Getting an established, young, cost-controlled player like Reynolds without giving one up isn’t happening. Pittsburgh has to field a team, too. And a lot of the names thrown around just don’t have much value. You rarely see unranked players in A ball headlining blockbuster trades.
And Dalbec? He’s almost worthless right now. Struggled against RHP for two years, but still getting closer to arbitration all while playing the easiest position to field. He’s not a headliner for any sort of blockbuster right now. Certainly not untradeable, but any blockbuster trade that includes him could probably also be pulled off without him…
