  1. It’s not going to happen, but I appreciate the explanation. It answered my question exactly…
  2. Drohan, too…
  3. Eovaldi was available to the entire league. And nobody topped the 2 yr $34mill offer. Think the Yankees should fire Cashman for spending $162mil on Rodon when he could have had Eovaldi and saved almost $130mill?
  4. I believe many wanted him dealt away at the deadline. Or at least didn’t understand why he wasn’t…
  5. I wouldn’t argue with that. I have no idea either way…
  6. The luxury tax exists riley to benefit the small market owners. The larger markets undoubtedly do not like having to repeatedly pay the smaller ones so they can go through the motions of setting up a team…
  7. What is the answer? And how long will that answer stay the same?
  8. Step into the digital age!!
  9. 1. Ok and how did that come about. We know he turned down a QO. Beyond that, did the Sox make another offer? 2. Based on Eovaldi’s history, how big should the Sox have gone? 3. Will Eovaldi actually pitch enough to be worth that deal, based on his history? If Eovaldi does miss significant time this year, and possibly next, were the Sox still wrong to let him go?
  10. Ticket scalpers? Those still exist? I’m talking about stubhub, seatgeeks, and all those other crowd sourced ticket outlets. Those are the folks who ramp up the prices now…
  11. I doubt he’s happy. The question is - is he patient?
  12. And if a GM judged Eovaldi to be a high risk for injury and therefore a risky multiyear deal, would you agree or disagree?
  13. That clinches it - he cares what fans think. Of course that kind of thing really only applies to season ticket holders. Far too many tickets get sold through second party sellers who up the price as they please. The Sox themselves used to run one, but I don’t know if they do any more.
  14. Yeah their credibility comes in waves, but those waves lately haven’t had much Devers Love…
  15. Maybe not, but that doesn’t mean he want to shell out a billion dollars every four years. Did he or did he not recently comment about ball players being expensive?
  16. Have you read the game threads lately?
  17. The notion of trimming payroll and winning is absolutely the goal, but it’s not as easy as a lot of folks seem to think. We out here in Internet Forum World seem to think it’s very easy. Just read this thread. All we had to do was bring back Eovaldi and Wacha and not sign Kluber. The easy argument against that is that’s exactly what 2022 looked like, and the subsequent argument is a lot of people are basing Wacha’s four year deal on one good month. Hanley Ramirez looked like a good deal after one month, too. I have no idea how long Bloom sold Henry on his plan. But it’s possible Henry is more on board than most fans. I’m sure the booing bothers him less than you think; he’s saving enough money to hire his own cheering section…
  18. Do you think Henry wants another $240mill payroll?
  19. So do I hear a “why didn’t we bring back Rich Hill”? I had no idea the 2022 Sox were this popular. They certainly weren’t in 2022…
  20. Houck’s been mostly starting for four years now. He didn’t start in 2021 and 2022 because the 2023 rotation needed help. This is the Sox giving him every opportunity to be a starter over multiple seasons…
  21. Yes but that wasn’t the question. If he was theoretically DFAd, would he be able to refuse assignment and declare free agency?
  22. “You played it for her. You can play it for me.” That’s the actual line. Rick never says “Play it again, Sam”. Seen it enough times, much like the Dalbec Show. (Coming back full circle here.)
  23. I don’t think he has options and can’t be demoted without a DFA and waivers. And even then, he might be able to declare free agency. (Or not. I don’t know those rules fully. Little help?)
  24. I like Houck in the pen and always have, but for some reason the Sox are trying to force him into the rotation. I don’t think he is there because they ignored the rotation. I think he’s there because they want him there. I don’t like that move either…
  25. It means don’t expect lots of money thrown at it. Expect changes in usage…
