  1. Maybe they went so far under because the Sox didn’t want any of the remaining high-priced free agents, and decided not to just spend for the sake of PR…
  2. If Kike is going to play - and he very likely is - it should be in CF. If Cora can’t see that, he should be replaced…
  3. With Duvall close, how does he get back in the lineup? I could see Duran getting demoted. In no way should Kike return to shortstop. CF. Full time. If you put Duvall in LF, with Kike in CF and Dugo in RF, that leaves questions about 2b, SS and Turner. Cora has used Turner as an emergency 2b; hopefully he doesn’t see him as a full time solution. Turner at 1b? Certainly possible, but should Casas get demoted? And even then, 2b and SS? Until Story and/or Mondesi gets back, the Reyes/Arroyo/Valdez crowd doesn’t really do it for me. But that’s the options. Unless they decide Hamilton deserves a chance. Not sure why he was added to the 40 man of he’s not an option at a position of weakness while tearing up AAA…
  4. Devers is hitting .241 and without the Gold Glove caliber defense. Bench him too?
  5. A lot of talk about this rotation Starter ERA Season: 5.29 Last 30 days: 4.40 Last 14 days: 4.23 Team OPS: Season: .786 Last 30 Days: .718 Last 14 days: .699 The starters, while certainly not good, might not be the problem here. Especially considering the play behind them…
  6. Only Casas, Devers and Duran played A ball in the Sox organization…
  7. Keep Reyes at least until Story is back. Have him at shortstop
  8. Certainly apt music, but what isn’t funny with that soundtrack? Even a security video of a clown with a butcher’s knife trying to break into a house would look comical with Benny Hill music…
  9. “Why even throw the red ones?”
  10. Probably? I promise you it will come up after each start by either pitcher between now and when they hit the IL…
  11. And when has that ever stopped us before?
  12. Offering. Nate a QO was a no-brainer. The subsequent offer has me wondering…
  13. Ok but unless we know the Sox offer, this is all academic. Reportedly they offered more guaranteed money. Was the issue the years? Or was it the potential money Texas offered (that Eovaldi will likely never see)?
  14. Nowadays we have viewers who are growing up with the white box on TV and are more critical of umpires on borderline calls. Couldn’t the ump see it wasn’t in the box?
  15. Tapia DFAd. Arroyo is back, but they didn’t need to DFA anyone to activate him. Valdez could have been demoted. I suppose this opens a 40 man roster spot for Duvall…
  16. So the Sox offered more money but Eovaldi still signed elsewhere? This doesn’t sound like the Sox FO just ignored the situation and let him walk…
  17. I might have misunderstood. When you said it couldn’t be one-for-one and then added Rafaela, I thought you meant with Casas, not in place of him. Of course the Marlins have gaps at both positions (1b and CF), so either option makes sense…
  18. Would you have gone three? Texas has a third year player option (that kicks in if Eovaldi pitches 300IP in the first two years) that, with other incentives, can bring the deal to $63mill over 3 years. Should the Sox have gone 3 guaranteed years to top that? And at what AAV?
  19. No idea. What were the details?
  20. No. That team better have 60 foot high walls in the outfield. We know 37 feet high isn’t enough…
  21. So Casas and Rafaela for Lopez? Was Lopez was under contract through 2024 at the time? (Minnesota has extended him since.) I like Lopez, but he does seem to struggle as the year goes on…
  22. Maybe he thinks it’s time. He’s a commodities guy - his first words as a baby were probably “Sell high! Buy low!”
  23. The Marlins dealt an increasingly costly pitcher for a reigning batting champ. Not sure we could top that. BTV had Lopez and Casas as roughly equal. Should Bloom have pulled the trigger? ( Assuming Miami was interested in Casas.)
  24. Then Cora is a/the problem…
  25. Even if they weren’t the problem, they were both leaving and created room for new players by doing so. And while I wanted Bogaerts back for 2023, I’m a lot less confident of his play in 2033. And given his contract, you can’t have one without the other…
