Massarotti is either a moron or a liar. Quite possibly both.
It’s nauseating that people listen to him for information. He’s always been terrible. And I’m not talking “serial killer terrible,” nor “zombie apocalypse terrible”. He’s “Armageddon By Flaming Excrement Avalanche” terrible.
Does he even listen to his own stupidity? So Mayer sucked when he got to Double A, but the White Sox would still be willing to trade multiple years of their All Star 6 tool CF for him. (His sixth tool is charisma.)
BTV? If they think the Red Sox could get Dylan Cease and Luis Robert all for a Double A shortstop, they’re clearly using LSD.
Talk to them after the chartreuse elephant carrying the inflatable road map has left the room…
What do people want from a 2b? ( Or, more importantly, think Breslow wants?)
This could go in a couple directions.
Good glove? Leadoff type?
If you want right-handed pop and good plate discipline, Urias might be the guy…
If they even get 2 SPs at all, it’s very possible the second one meets your criteria for a #4. But if that pitcher keeps Houck and Whitlock in the pen, that’s still an upgrade…
Also this kind of thing happens all the time, usually for economic reasons. I heard the Dodgers once upgraded their right field position by trading Alex Verdugo for another right fielder…
I thought he meant unload Sale’s contract and use the money for a better SP.
The real issue is Sale is in his final year and his contract just isn’t the obstacle it used to be. The Sox are either going to spend or they’re not and I’m not sure Sale and his contract are that much of an impact…
Sign me up for that. He’s not a good 3b. And the notion that he will become one by taking 10 extra minutes of grounders per day is laughable.
Why not, instead of signing an ace, make Crawford the ace and have him just work harder to get better? 10 extra minutes per day and learn a cutter? That should do it. (This might be sarcasm…
