  1. I think DD brings back Kimbrel. For the rumored money and years, I would prefer he brought back Kelly and looked elsewhere for a closer...
  2. No. Even with his outstanding postseason, no GM is going to give him more money and years with his history of elbow trouble. I think fans view postseason stats very differently than most GMs, and especially stats from one postseason for starting pitchers...
  3. Doubtful all vacancies are filled by spending. We do have a President/GM who likes to make trades. Any of the following (and possibly a few others) might be trade bait to fill those needs: Bobby Dalbec Sam Travis Blake Swihart Brian Johnson Michael Chavis Josh Ockimey Chandler Shepherd Mike Sharwyn Heath Hembree Brandon Workman Not sure what that gets them, but I do expect a deal or two. I do think a reliever or two and a stopgap 2b can be acquired from players in that assortment...
  4. My prediction has always been he ends up in Chicago, where I could see both teams being interested. The White Sox are loaded with young players and really need a superstar to bring it all together (and reportedly tried to acquire him last year). And the Cubs have a lot of money to spend and will soon have a vacancy at shortstop once they unload Addison Russell. Now Addison Russell is a guy I could see the Yankees acquiring...
  5. Out of curiosity, who is that?
  6. Well this is as tradition dictates...
  7. The Dodger 2018 World Series Champs ones are a lot cheaper right now...
  8. Are you waiting for Amazon to deliver your Inflatable Kinsler doll? Yes, the Inflatable Kinsler. Blow it up and it throws itself away...
  9. Just beating moonslav to the punch. But seriously, come tomorrow, TITLE DEFENSE BEGINS!!!
  10. So can we all forgive Ian Kinsler now?
  11. Some us always believed in him
  12. To be fair, he was about them winning 85 games. He just forgot to add the other 34 wins...
  13. The entire point was how well this team is doing, yet with (at the time) a 2-0 lead in the World Series, we still have to question the manager? Is there no pleasing some people?
  14. I had fun needling Cubs’ fans in 2001 when Arizona won it all. “Their fans had to wait four long years for a title.” And “the last time the Cubs won the World Series, Arizona wasn’t even a state.” (This was actually true in 2001.) But I live among these Cub fan freaks...
  15. There is an argument here for the late Dallas Green, GM of the Cubs in 1984 who acquired Rick Sutcliffe (16-1, 2.69 ERA after the trade)...
  16. This is Brian Dozier’s chance for a big payday, and he won’t be looking for “stopgap” money and years, ditto DJ LeMahieu. So if the Sox pursue either, it would appear to be an attempt to replace Pedroia permanently. Stopgap players are names like Jed Lowrie, who is 35 and not likely to get multiple years, and Logan Forsythe. If the Sox are moving on from Pedroia, Dozier and LeMahieu are in play. But I would imagine the Lowrie/Forsythe types are more likely...
  17. Orlando Hernandez’ striking out of Ramirez and Ortiz with the bases loaded also hurt...
  18. The Red Sox did lose that series, which sort of makes it less than comforting...
  19. Cora’s worst mistakes were about half a dozen moves in game 3, including pitching to Puig with first open and Barnes on deck in game 3...
  20. A good win to get series momentum back and push LA to the edge. Also, I hope most of you have stopped sticking pins in your Ian Kinsler dolls now...
  21. Teammates for 4 years and parts of 2 others...
  22. Cora was a bigger issue than Kinsler. All September. fans were worried about carrying enough hitters to accommodate Vázquez or Leon in the lineup. Having both and for as long as he did was just a mess. With Betts and Bogaerts flailing, what part of the order were we counting on to score?
  23. Moreland and Devers were both desperate to pull pitches all game. Their swings looked awful...
  24. Without Bradley, the Sox lose in 9...
  25. 1. Buckner did not. Heck the Sox has already blown a 2 run lead that inning. 2. Can we lose the series before making Kinsler a goat? 3. The two problems last night were the hitters and Cora. Betts and Bogaerts between them managed nothing but an intentional walk in basically 2 complete games. Cora decided for some reason to put together a lineup using all the Sox worst hitters. 4. Eovaldi May have saved this series. Kimbrel was the only other Sox reliever with more than1 IP (and he went 1.1 IP). For all their talk about an “expensive loss” last night for the Sox, the Dodgers had more relievers go multiple innings and might be in worse shape. 5. Before the series, bullpen was supposed to be the Sox weakness. After allowing 1 ER in 13 IP last night, this may not be the case...
