  1. Based on what? My position has always been - we really don't know the whole story. Last time I posted an alternate theory, two people (one I think was Spudboy) posted links discrediting your version. It's not about whether or not you found a non-answer credible. There are stories from actual reporters discrediting that version already. It's old news...
  2. And everybody for years believed the sun revolved around the Earth. Popularity doesn't equal truth...
  3. Blasphemer!!
  4. Now THAT is a matter of interpretation...
  5. I believe the entire "it's them, not me" story has already been dismissed as something other than Pedroia throwing teammates under the bus. Last time I posted that we really never knew what it was, a couple other posters followed with links about the story behind what really happened, saying the whole thing is really an overblown misunderstanding...
  6. He'd like Price a lot better of David was in pinstripes. If Price is #3, Tanaka (4.79ERA, 5.06FIP and 2.0 HR/9) is a marginal #5...
  7. Posts like this often come from a place of ignorance, not expertise...
  8. Marco Hernandez doesn't throw left-handed. He only bats that way, like many other infielders....
  9. Mike Olt has an .875 OPS and MLB experience. Not to mention the Sox have Nunez and Holt on the MLB roster, and only one of them is needed to cover 2B...
  10. That was her point - that without Hnaley we don't have enough hitters and the only guy the Sox can call up is Travis. And, while she didn't say it outright, Travis isn't very good...
  11. Travis is hitting .220/.293/.364 in AAA. Ramirez was hitting better in MLB in all 3 splits and was released.
  12. Velasquez is another possibility. In limited action, Johnson has been better as a starter (37.1 IP 4.34ERA, 1.47WHIP) than as a reliever (21.0 IP, 6.43ERA, 1.52WHIP). Granted, at those sample sizes, one good or bad appearance can have a significant effect on the end results...
  13. Pomeranz should go to the DL when Thronburg is activated. Let Brian Johnson start a couple games in his absence. Or Steven Wright...
  14. Melancon did save 130 games for the Pirates, which might have made him more valuable than a utility infielder...
  15. I'm not so sure. Cora was batting him third most of the year and second in his last game. If hitting as the issue, why wasn't he ever dropped down in the lineup?
  16. If they gave that $70mill to Jose Abreu and his zero plate appearances against an MLB curve ball, would that have been so bad?
  17. Bailey was a Rookie of the Year who made 2 All Star appearances in his first 3 seasons. What exactly had Reddick done by that time?
  18. I thought he was released to make room for Ed Sprague.
  19. Yes. They didn't even read it when they wrote it...
  20. Exactly. I agree it was on the table, but I'm not so sure DFAing Hanley didn't look like the better option once he realized getting actual value for Swihart was not going to happen...
  21. Short term, I agree. He has his uses. He's a role player, and while his role is pretty wide, he is still best used in his role...
  22. Which is what I have been saying all along was the reason for his story. Personally, I didn't think anything needed to be said. I would not have guessed Hanley would get DFA'd, but I saw what had to be the obvious reason why...
  23. That's really all he left after omitting the other possibilities. It just seemed odd the ask for top prospects for him and then plan to DFA him, which every GM suspected was going to happen, That would mean he likely blew his chance to get anything with even the slightest hint of potential value for Swihart. I almost think the plan all along was to DFA Hanley, or at least that was the backup plan.. The first option appeared to be to try and get a massive overpayment for Swihart...
  24. Not a fan of Holt's defense...
  25. Why would the Sox want Lowrie? Middle infield is not a weakness. Offense really isn't either.
