  1. He might be an upgrade over Walker/Lamb. But he isn’t worth much in a trade. Last year the Sox got Steve Pearce for minor league infielder Santiago Espinal. That’s about Moreland’s value...
  2. Unless they come back and suck
  3. Heights and weights for athletes are rarely listed consistently anywhere. I’ve seen Lincecum, for example, listed at 5’9, 5’10 and now at 5’11. Not sure what his true height is, but he’s probably not exactly any of those heights. Bottom line - these guys are all small...
  4. Tim Lincecum, Johnny Cueto, Tom Gordon, Jason Frasor, and Teddy Higuera were all power pitchers about that height.
  5. So yesterday Paul DeJong Hot 3 home runs, one day after Robinson Cano accomplished the feat, making him the - well, I’ve lost count how many have hit 3 home runs in a game this year. I totally expect someone to hit 4. 18 players have hit 4 in a game to date in MLB history, most recently in 2017 by JD Martinez. Number 19 has to happen this year. Right? And does this mean at some point this year, someone will become the first player to hit FIVE home runs in a game? Who will it be? And how many will he hit off Rick Porcello?
  6. Oh I get protecting your anonymity. So if you win, answer EVERY QUESTION with the dung beetle line and NOTHING ELSE. If they ask how you feel, you’re “all over it like a dung beetle on buffalo poop.” When they ask how it will change your life, you’re “all over it like a dung beetle on buffalo poop.” It’ll be like a Marshawn Lynch press conference, but more awesome. It’ll go viral. We’ll see it. And THEN I will take your predictions seriously.
  7. Go for it. And when they interview you on TV about winning, somehow casually work in the phrase “I was all over it like a dung beetle on buffalo poop.” Just so we all know it was you. And make it sound like you’re serious...
  8. I’m glad you said that for two reasons. 1. I don’t have faith in DD to make any upgrades. 2. Your prediction track record is, to be kind, f***ing awful...
  9. Much like Blue Moon Beer, Charlie Blackmon is a product of Coors...
  10. Well, where’s that quote from? At the very least, itseems like they called him up before he was ready - after 1 rehab inning. After his first outing, don’t you think they should take a little time giving him softer landing spots? Or do you think they should ignore that outing and just drop him into high leverage innings solely because they said they would?
  11. They rushed him back after one inning of rehab. Don’t take their decision to make him the closer so literal. No one said he would jump into the role on Day One...
  12. Ok I’m missing your point.
  13. Yes, but it won’t be a significant contribution. In fWAR, the pitcher’s FIP is a factor. In that instance, he issued a walk and did not have a corresponding strikeout to offset it. But WAR is meant to be an encompassing stat and not applied to individual game situations like this. It’s an aggregate compilation of a player’s offensive, defensive, base running, and/or pitching contributions.
  14. So DD was right for passing on all available boats because they went on to sink? I hope he’s never stranded on a deserted island. Actually if he was, that might explain a few things...
  15. Small sample size?
  16. Of course there have been some writers who didn’t vote for a surefire inductee to intentionally prevent the 100% vote and have even admitted as much. But sometimes other voters don’t vote for a surefire inductee because they figure he’s going to get in anyway, and they decide to use their limited votes for less likely candidates who they feel are worthy but need the support...
  17. The Guardians (and really, every team) have had blowout games followed by offensive weakspots, too. Back in May they scored 14 runs against Baltimore in one game and 1 the next. (And then later in the year, lost back-to-back games to Baltimore by identical scores of 13-0)...
  18. The last thing MLB needs is to remain a league where only the teams with financial wherewithal can win anything.
  19. The big difference is Keuchel rejected a Qualifying Offer. If Porcello gets one, he might not reject it...
  20. Brnintendi will be fine. I’ve seen to this personally. I dropped him from my fantasy team. That ought to fix him
  21. I am aware. My comment was meant to be a sarcastic reflection of the “involvement” of Dombrowski this season...
  22. Sox won’t decide on buying/selling until August...
  23. New rules for save situation. Also, you don’t have to hold the lead...
  24. What else do you think he’ll get?
  25. If only they had our bullpen...
