  1. Sent down when Moreland was activated
  2. The common use of wins to evaluate a pitcher is also the reason a sportswriter developed ERA...
  3. With their payroll, it’s allowed...
  4. In his last two outings against Boston, Tanaka has given up 18 ER in 4 IP for an impressive 40.50 ERA...
  5. My plan all along. My agent suggested a Squeaky Wheel Tactic...
  6. Or just look at ERA alone, which will give you the same conclusion 100% of the time...
  7. While true, every MLB organization has a Sam Travis and. Tzu-Wei Lin type player already that they’re not starting and not worried about.
  8. Trading Charles Darwin would make a monkey out of Dombrowski Rimshot...
  9. Who needs scouting? Look at some of the best young and up and coming players in the game - like Cody Bellinger, Vlad Guerrero Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Cavan Biggio, Adalberto Mondesi, and Lance McCullers Jr. Along with some of the game’s top prospects like Bo Bichette, Luis Garcia, Ke’Bryan Hayes, Griffin Conine, Nick Gordon, and Ryan Weathers. What do they all have uncommon?
  10. There’s a better chance of Dombrowski signing me than of him trading for Syndergaard...
  11. Value as a trade commodity is directly related to value as a baseball player, especially for minor leaguers...
  12. “Good” and “bad” are matters of opinion. Which is why Bob Marley and his 3 little birds didn’t sing that lyric...
  13. When Matt Young can take the loss in a no-hitter - and not be the only pitcher ever to do so - it might be an indication that the stat isn’t solely indicative of the pitcher himself. When Harvey Haddix can put forth the single most dominant pitching performance in a century and a half of MLB games and still take the loss, it might be an indication that the stat isn’t solely indicative of the pitcher himself. Wins are a team stat. You don’t win or lose as a pitcher; you win or lose as a team...
  14. The game is changing. It always has before. It’s OK. In the words of the immortal philosopher Bob Marley “Every little thing is gonna be all right.”
  15. The Sox most tradable pieces are Dalbec and Duran. Hernandez and Mata also have some value. Travis and Lin are worthless as trade commodities...
  16. Tend to agree. While someone like Lynn makes sense for Boston because of his control beyond 2020, the Sox might forego starters and focus on relievers. Unless the goal is to push Cashner to the pen, which I doubt...
  17. Casas, Dalbec and Benintendi actually is a really good offer for Syndergaard. The sticking point might be the lack of pitching...
  18. It’s really not that great of an offer. The best player in it is a positionless infielder and the Jays have Guerrero, Bichette, and Biggio taking 3 of those spots. And they still have Gurriel looking for a place to play...
  19. Wins are meaningful as a team stat, but not a pitcher stat. More often than not, the wins stat for pitchers is an indication of the talent of a pitcher’s teammates, not of the pitcher...
  20. Well, the harm is it leaves the Sox weaker at 1b...
  21. Silly question. But as Chavis and Pearce are both injured, if the Sox were to trade Moreland, who would play first!? Brock Holt? Maybe the Sox need Moreland more than anyone else does right now...
  22. Tampa RHP Blake Snell is undergoing arthroscopic surgery and Texas OF Joey Gallo is going to undergo hamate bone surgery. Both are expected to miss 4-6 weeks. I think Texas is officially in “Sell Mode” now. Tampa can become much more aggressive buyers and has the prospects to do so, but I’m not as sure of their fate since they typically like to avoid bigger contracts and giving away any prospects of value. They may just try to win with their kids and a short term marginal pickup. I’d be surprised if they went into sell mode at this point, even as their injuries pile up...
  23. So he’s both not good enough yet also too good? Actually I plugged that trade into baseballtradevalues.com and it was accepted. I think Lynn’s age and history have him as a “sell high” candidate...
  24. As much as I have my doubts that it’s the smart move, I think the Sox will be buyers. I think they will acquire Lance Lynn for Bobby Dalbec...
