    If the Yankee series had been a movie where the Sox were down 3 games to 1, and trailing in the ninth inning of game 4 against the greatest closer of all time, and managed to come back and win the game and the series, I would have thought “Good movie. But not believable.” Especially since in this movie, Terry Francona is played by Michael Caine, Dave Roberts is played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Mariano Rivera by Luis Guzman.     And Romine won't be getting 3 year $21mill. THat's basically the contract Ottavino and Joe Kelly got, and no one likely to befall a career backup catcher. Even former all-star Wilson Ramos got neither those years not money. Last off-season, former Gold Glover Martin Maldonado settled for a 1 year $2.5mill contract. Kurt Suzuki got 2 years $10mill. Romine's career falls short of both of theirs, so don;t expect that much for him...

    It might happen, and he might surprise. There was a time when the Guardians thought Coco Crisp would never make it as a centerfielder because of his defense. The Red Sox did win a title with Johnny Damon in CF. A good defensive CF is always a plus, and certainly something I would want. But if the Sox have Betts in RF, maybe Benintendi in CF won't be as horrible as many are predicting...

    I'm not wild about Garcia, and the Sox have had plenty of good defensive RFers even before Betts, including JD Drew, Trot Nixon, and Shane Victorino. During the years the Sox used lesser defensive right fielders like Billy Hatcher, Darren Bragg and Cody Ross, the team was usually not very good. I don't think they leave RF up for anyone with a bat. At least I hope not...
