  1. So why did Bakst retire?
  2. That’s such a Gen Xer thing to say
  3. While we all hope that’s a pre-cursor to his performance this season (whenever it starts), but it’s not like Cole needs to be sharp to guarantee himself a roster spot. And he is well aware of this...
  4. They really still haven’t closed the doors. So far we have only closed the borders to foreign nationals, but American citizens, permanent residents, and their families can all still re-enter the country, each carrying as many viruses as carry-on regulations permit...
  5. The bigger question is - in what way didn’t they?
  6. Did any of these 3 players dominate their position to he same level Brady dominated his? And comparing Mahomes' TWO SEASONS to Brady's 19 year career is like saying Bobby Thigpen was a better closer than Mariano Rivera...
  7. So he isn't a good enough athlete based on that one play? If Brady isn't a football choice with Jerry Rice, who is? I would nominate Jim Brown, but the OP has a 50 year timeline. So who over Brady since 1969? And apparently it cannot be someone who dropped one pass....
  8. This one is 80's pop culture. In the last scene of the TV series Newhart (1982-1990), rather than having anything relevant to the actual show, they filmed a scene where Bob Newhart woke up in bed in the widely-recognized bedroom setting of his previous sitcom (The Bob Newhart Show, 1972-1978) with Suzanne Pleshette, the actress who played his wife in said previous sitcom. And he talked about the entire series of Newhart being a bizarre dream he just had. That scene alone turned the series finale of Newhart into one of the most famous series' endings in TV history...
  9. Best trivia question ever - name the only 3 quarterbacks since 1990 to win a Heisman trophy and a playoff game? (Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, and Charlie Ward, who won some NBA playoff games.) But really, who knows if Ward would have done anything as an NFL QB? He might have been Lamar Jackson, but also maybe Troy Smith...
  10. In one of them, Bob Newhart wakes up and tells Suzanne Pleshette about this whole baseball season he dreamt about...
  11. Ah, the bright side of Armageddon...
  12. Weird but it explains some things. Not so much what the Vikings were thinking, but some things...
  13. Danny Ainge. s***** 2b for the Blue Jays All Star SG for the Celtics Excellent executive And then there’s Mark Hendrickson, NBA PF turned crappy LHP for the Orioles. But really, Bo Jackson and Brian Jordan are the best choices. I believe they are the only two professional athletes ever to be all stars in multiple sports...
  14. EXactly. Two games every Sunday. You can be in and out in under 16 hours!!
  15. I always heard he excelled in 3 sports at Minnesota, but now I'm wondering if that is true. Did he play football there?
  16. Bring back double headers!!!
  17. Honestly, I had a bigger issue with Trout than Bonds, more so due to shorter career and fewer accomplishments over, say, Albert Pujols. But I think it's very likely Trout will ultimately be the right choice. Looking at fWAR over the past 50 years, Bonds is the clear leader with 164.4 and Clemens is second with 133.7. The only other players with more than 100 are Greg Maddux (116.7), Alex Rodriguez (113.7), Randy Johnson (110.4), Nolan Ryan (106.7), Mike Schmidt (106.5), Rickey Henderson (106.3) and Bert Blyleven (103.3). Yes, Bert Blyleven, That is not a typo...
  18. Deion Sanders was more hype than play as a baseball player. His former secondary partner Brian Jordan was a Pro Bowl cornerback and an All Star outfielder who is much, much better choice here...
  19. It’s been in the news quite a bit...
  20. On the bright side, several MLB players have had cancer, had it taken care of, and fully recovered. Notably Jon Lester, Mike Lowell and Anthony Rizzo...
  21. According to some, that was the plan all along...
  22. Sort of gives a new meaning to “social distancing”...
  23. Well then.. have You heard? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com.au/coronavirus-pornhub-offering-free-subscriptions-to-italians-2020-3/amp
  24. I thought the whole point of the opener was to use one of the better relievers, thus ensuring the tougher matchup for the better hitters at the top of the opposing batting order...
  25. I got the impression from the way the Dodgers were handling him that he wasn’t much on defense at catcher, second or third. But the Dodgers are also loaded with prospects at those positions too...
