They might have underperformed last year, but you think replacing Sale, Price, Porcello and Betts with Perez, McHugh, Johnson and Verdugo/Pillar is the foundation from winning 52% of the time to 58% of the time?

I think ERod, Eovaldi and Perez are locks for the rotation. But the last two spots look like some combination of Weber, Johnson and McHugh. Bullpen management will be very important. Pitching depth will be less important than in years past, but still could be deadly if things break wrong...

I think the Sox win 25-30 games. I am not liking their chances without Sale, Price, Porcello and Betts. That;s an awful lot of talent to lose from a team that was only 3 games over .500 last year. I don't think Martin Perez, Brian Johnson, and Ryan Weber are going to replace Sale, Price and Porcello very adequately. I do think Collin McHugh is a step up over Weber and Johnson, but will he start over either? And even if he does, cracking 30 wins might be a tall order. But hey, if they can get on a run and make it exciting, dgalehouse is right. For once, the season is a sprint...

I think I might prefer Matt Hall and Colten Brewer over Hart and Mazza. But it’s not like there is an obvious right choice. Other than that preference of mine, it is possible. Although the Sox might want Yairo Munoz on the roster as well. If they do plan to keep the former Cardinal malcontent, Chavis is the only non-starting position player with options. Or they could work out a deal for Arauz...

Since teams will only be playing intradivisional games and inter league games against the mirror division, this should not be a huge problem, although it does apply to Tampa and Miami...

So now that the season is on the schedule, the Sox can try to reset. But is there any minimum number of games required for the reset to be official? If the Sox play one regular season game, and a COVID outbreak derails the season again, does it count?

Well, Jonathan Arauz will be one do they can bury him on the bench and fulfill their Rule 5 obligation. I suspect 3 or 4 will be pitchers since there will be so few days off. So maybe Jeff Springs, Matt Hall, Josh Osich and Colten Brewer are in play. Yairo Munoz is another player likely to get considered..,
