  1. I agree on most of those names - maybe not Chatham - as being gone. One guy I think very likely to stay is Matt Hall. He was acquired for his outstanding spin rate and I doubt they give up on him after only 8 innings...
  2. I’d say it’s more likely to be a difference maker for Dombrowski....
  3. The team payroll will be north of $200 mill. They’ll be fine...
  4. Sure it could. And the Sox have at least that much to spend already. I have faith enough in Bloom that Pedroia's deal won't be an issue...
  5. Point? Tanner Houck was on the exact same pace after 3 starts. Is the benchmark for representative sample size more than 3 starts but less than 6?
  6. They're the only team that can! At least this year...
  7. Eh. If he stays on solely to collect the money that he is no longer able to physically earn due to an injury on the battlefield, I'm ok with it. I don't think the $13.75mill is a hindrance to Bloom to the same degree it would be to Dombrowski...
  8. So he turns us down as GM only to come back as part-owner?
  9. He's already not on the 40 man roster. He might be put on it briefly in the offseason, but he will go alost immediately back to the 60 day IL, which removes him from the 40 man roster. The only thing about Pedroia that still impacts the Sox at all is his final year of AAV...
  10. Pedroia has not been on the 40 man roster since April of 2019, other than a brief obigatory add last off-season...
  11. I’m sure the Sox will talk about Bauer. They’ll probably also talk to Bauer. But I have my doubts that leads to signing him...
  12. I thought you weren’t coming back until the Winter Meetings?
  13. Shouldn’t we wait for the Blaming of the Umpires? There are traditions we need to respect...
  14. Finally I can watch the postseason in peace
  15. I really doubt Covey and Sharwyn need to be included or have any appeal to the Rays. They're both the definition of "Replacement Level". The one deal that BTV accepts that I could see the Rays making is Vazquez straight up for Diego Castillo...
  16. I hope they move Eovaldi to the pen, where he could give 50-60 excellent IP to a pen that badly needs it. A bullpen with Eovaldi, Barnes, Brasier and Darwinzon Hernandez as the top four options is not a bad start at all. Add in Taylor and Valdez(?) and a couple acquisitions and the bullpen could become a potential strength for this team (depending on the acquistions)...
  17. Or in the case of Eovaldi, pay half his salary to not pitch for another team. That’s more of a bargain than you realize....
  18. Glasnow vs Cole. Two former top Pirates prospects facing off...
  19. If we had Betts this year, it would still have been a Sox-less post-season. Unless you count the White ones...
  20. It didn't help the A's that they were without their best player.
  21. Unless Bogaerts opts out..
  22. I think of it as a more extreme version of the contracts other teams have given to pitchers like Drew Smyly, Michael Pineda, and Garret Richard, all of whom received 2 year deals where each was already known to be missing that first season...
  23. So think the Rays hit Ji-Man Choi second tonight to maximize his appearances against Cole? Choi has a 2.400 career OPS vs Cole in 12 PA with 6 of hit 8 hits going for extra bases, including 3 HRs. Maybe put Joey Wendle (.812 OPS vs Cole) at leadoff?
  24. I think this team is in a position where they just have to keep Eovaldi's contract. Odor just won't be worth it unless they really believe he can hit improve greatly on his 2016 season. Right now, he is a 2B who struggles defensively, has a career OPS of .728 and hits a little over 20 HRs per season while striking out a lot. That makes him Michael Chavis...
  25. I hope not. If only because it keeps increasing the likelihood of multiple World Series games being snowed out...
