  1. Rizzo could still say no if he doesn’t like the return package. Most likely they have already gotten Scherzer’s approval before any negotiations so as not to waste valuable time. Reportedly he will accept deals to the West Coast teams and the Red Sox, but already refused the Astros and Phillies. That the only teams currently being mentioned in rumors are the west coast teams and the Red Sox does seem to support this..
  2. The deal was a recovering TJS guy in Mata for Boyd and Schoop, not Scherzer…
  3. And really not much of a decline…
  4. Chickens hate marmots. Everybody knows that..
  5. Heyman still has the Sox (and Dodgers and Giants) still alive in the Quest for Scherzer…
  6. Now what would a marmot be doing in a henhouse?
  7. Fangraphs has his UZR/150 at -5.8, which is worse than Rizzo’s -1.6. BTV suggests Schoop (1.6) would be much easier to acquire than Rizzo (8.6), for what that’s worth…
  8. Wong does have a significant amount of infield experience…
  9. Food for thought Rizzo - OPS+ 116 Schoop - OPS+ 120
  10. You say stuff like that every year. While HOU and CWS are both very good, the Sox are still tied with Houston for best record in the AL. Why is Bloom supposed to disregard that? They didn’t get Scherzer for one very likely reason - San Diego still has a much better farm with more prospects…
  11. Players agreed upon. Medicals pending. Scherzer must stamp his approval. The weasel has left the henhouse..
  12. And Anthony Franco of MLBTR scooped me by mere seconds on this…
  13. Per Rotoworld, the Padres are close on Scherzer…
  14. Philadelphia is not out of anything. Their remaining schedule is relatively easy and Fangraphs has them winning the NL East…
  15. Not like he can make trades all by himself…
  16. Just pitched so he’s unavailable for a while and he has options. It’s temporary
  17. They are legitimate DFA candidates, but also because Bloom might not give as much importance to 18-25 IP samples as you prefer.
  18. BB/9 is more about control than command…
  19. The main problem with Price type deals is often the last 2-3 years. So the preference is to not bother with the good productive years and skip right to the questionable ones?
  20. Especially since they can no longer drink from the anabolic Fountain of Yourh…
  21. Well, he speaks very highly of you…
  22. Brad Hand to the Blue Jays Cesar Hernandez to the White Sox
  23. Just in August
