    Since he said won it all, I'm going to assume he meant won the World Series. I know the 1914 Braves and the 1978 Yankees did. Not sure of any others. None of the other teams you listed won the Series. Still, 2 is greater than 1, so the Ghost shouldn't be criticizing "wordsmithing".

    Actually, you can get a blown save and a win. Give up the tying run in the top of the 9th = blown save then team scores in the bottom of the 9th = win. You are correct that you can't get a hold and a save if you get a win.

    I get what you're saying, but I think if you actually looked at the "old" days, players weren't playing as much as we think they were. Plus, with pinch hitting and smaller pitching staffs, players could play in a game pinch hitting or pinch running while still getting a day "off". Zimmer burned out the 78 Red Sox by playing his regulars virtually every day, but only Rice started all 163 games. Fisk started a sick 151 times (and appeared in 157). Burleson 144 Evans 141 Hobson 147 Lynn 148 Remy 141 I used starts because there is no doubt as to intent by the manager. I'm not going back to see when guys were hurt (I know Burleson was in July because I watched it happen in Cleveland)

    The rest crticism thing is way overblown; Cora is not resting the position players nearly as much as most seem to think he is. The Sox have played 56 games. Starts by the regular position players: Benintendi - 49 (IIRC, he missed 3 games in April after fouling a ball off his foot and wasn't available) So basically, 49/53. Betts - 54 Bogaerts - 53 Bradley Jr. - 46 (hasn't started a few times against lefties, understandable) Devers - 53 Martinez - 48 (back and flu over the last couple weeks) Moreland - 39 (ideally he'd be platooning with Pearce and now on IL with a back issue) Vazquez - 39 (35 starts as a catcher meaning he's played 2/3 of the time as a catcher plus a handful at DH) Second base has been in total flux all season with no real regular. Chavis has started 34 of the 37 games he's been in the majors for. It's not like these guys are getting 2 days off a week (except for Vazquez which for a catcher is about right)

    I was too. Just googled it to see and it came up with an article about the White Sox scoring in every at bat in 2016, but they were home and only had 8. It apparently has been done 3 times in the NL.

    So how would you have handled the 9th inning? No 20-20 here, who would you have used? Personally, I would have used Hembree for the 9th (now I don’t know if he’s available, for all I know he may the flu).

    Doubt it, especially since the 1st homer was on the 7th pitch of the AB and the walk on the 8th.

    Well if he can’t that means Hembree comes in with guys on. That’s not a comfortable place to be for the home team.

    Probably because he was at about 95 pitches and has had one start since he came off a month on the IL. IIRC, Price also seems to face trouble when he gets up around 100.

    He played a big role in the Sox losing the series but not because of the error. He hit .188 in the series and drove in 1 run. Worse, he ended something like 17 innings, many with multiple men on base.

    And after all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, Porcello does what Porcello does. 6 innings (maybe 1 more), 3 runs.

    Tito rolled the dice. Rodriguez made some good pitches to get out of the 4th, but Devers/JDM/Bogies are not Leon and Benintendi.
