  1. . I can’t stand Machado and it would have been pure karma had he injured himself on a play like this but Aquilar has his foot right on top of the base. I played a lot of first backnin the day and one of the main lessons is always use the edge of the base when taking a throw to avoid situations just like this.
  2. Joe CAN be a really good umpire when he decides to let the game be the featured attraction and not himself. Unfortunately, he doesn't always do that.
  3. Nope. Kelly hasn’t worked in a while and you’ve got two more games the next 2 days. Keep Barnes pitch count down.
  4. We had a lab like that. Went from calling them walks to Ws to strolls to promenades. She figured them all out after about 2 times.
  5. First 2 pitches to Gonzalez were strikes; West didn’t call them. First one wasn’t even borderline.
  6. Finally found a place Bregman couldn’t get to.
  7. JBJ has absolutely no idea how to bunt. He can’t even sacrifice, let alone do it for a hit.
  8. 29th round though. He improved a ton in college and was a #1 pick by the Astros 3 years later.
  9. God I hate the way Vazquez does that 0-2 high strike. It’s never a competitive pitch.
  10. Starting to think this isn’t going to be our day; Stro’s flashing a lot of leather.
  11. They definitely have a real good idea of the strike zone.
  12. Geez, Brooks Jr. is human
  13. He doesn’t look at plays, just results. He’s an idiot who’s best put on ignore.
  14. Silly challenge by Cora; clearly a catch
  15. Yep, hell of a play.
  16. Yeah, the type of guy you love on your team and hate in the opposition.
  17. Getting. 1-2-3 inning:D
  18. Kemp is starting to annoy me the way Brett Gardner does.
  19. He deserved better. Bregman’s hit was a seeing eye grounder and Gonzalez sounded like he broke his bat; he certainly didn’t hit it in the fat part of the bat. And he should have been out of the inning on Gurriel’s ball.
  20. Nunez costs them another run. He’s not good but he’s been better than this during the season.
  21. Sounded like Gonzalez broke his bat on that one
  22. Initially, I thought the first one was okay, until I noticed him grabbing the fielder's pants leg and pulling him down. The second was illegal and correctly ruled as such. Wide of the base, couldn't hold the base AND again reached for the leg. He did something similar to Gregorius last year IIRC. What I don't get is as a middle infielder, one would think he wouldn't like it when somebody does that to him. The other day in the game thread, some were talking briefly about Machado and Bregman. Bregman is a PITA but so far, it's because he's really good. He reminds me a little of Pedroia from a decade ago; Machado is a very talented punk.
  23. Correct Ted. I don't understand why so many people seem to think it's 2-2-1-1-1. Baseball has never used that rotation. They didn't even use it in the 50s when the only travel that was required most of the time was between the Bronx and Brooklyn. This isn't basketball or hockey, which generally isn't played on consecutive days and therefore allows for travel days. It's also why those postseasons last 2 months. The last time a seven game series didn't use 2-3-2 was during WWII, when war time travel restrictions forced a 3-4 format (was 2-3-2 in 1944 when it was an all St. Louis affair).
  24. I just hope whatever it is doesn’t spread (assuming it’s a legit illness)
