  1. That pitch was 6 inches outside. Would the combined length of these hits reach the outfield fence?
  2. It’s either new sticky stuff or they changed the laces or some combination. Because you are right, some of the breaking stuff has been sick.
  3. Oh, I agree. It’s not good, but at least you’re realistic about what’s happened so far, unlike others here.
  4. If that’s your definition of being bombed, you need a new dictionary. I leave you to your ridiculous standards.
  5. Please let us know when he starts getting bombed today.
  6. Do you actually watch the games? WTF is he supposed to do on two bloops? Seriously, give an answer. Edit - Three bloops.
  7. There’s a word for it: Baseball
  8. Not their night tonight. The two biggest hits this inning probably had a combined exit velocity equal to an Eovaldi or Ohtani fastball.
  9. See the little box in the upper left hand corner? See the number next to the P?
  10. With Barnes having thrown 30+ pitches last night, it’s likely some combination of Taylor and Hernandez for the 8th and then Ottavino for the 9th.
  11. Betts and JBJ each got one; Beni did not (AL left field winner was Alex Gordon of the Royals). Kinsler also got one at 2nd base.
  12. He was lucky and unlucky. Vazquez has hit 2 balls much harder than anything the Angels hit last inning and is 0-2 in those ABs. It’s baseball.
  13. Maddon’s always complaining about something.
  14. These hits haven’t exactly been roped. Out at home
  15. Not enough guys on the bench to try the latter.
  16. Deep voice is Ellis Burks; began and ended his career with the Sox and played for a few teams in between. Not sure who the PxP guy is. They are filling in for O’Brien and Remy this weekend although it could be for the whole west coast trip. I don’t think the announcers are traveling with the team yet.
  17. Hey, that was before the DH. Gibson could have done some offensive damage himself (and he was a decent hitter for a pitcher; he hit about .200 and had over 20 career homers).
  18. 7 games, 6 1/3 innings, 6 hits, 3 runs (all earned), 4 walks and 8 Ks don’t exactly scream good nor “I should be promoted today”. Andriese can’t be sent directly down; he has to clear waivers plus he cannot be sent down without his permission. I’m not advocating for Andriese; I just don’t see Valdez as that viable an option. Andriese’s days on the roster are less than or equal to the number of days until Chris Sale is back on it.
  19. Santana with a double mental error there; should have gone to second and missed the cutoff man.
  20. What’s he doing in Worcester that would merit a recall? Give me (a) reason(s) to sign the petition. Not bring Andriese is not a reason.
  21. Well, he didn't make the Olympic team, so that factor is off the table (one of the reasons is because the Red Sox said they wanted to be able to call him up at anytime). However, unless there is an injury to one of the OFs (and it would probably have to be Verdugo or Renfroe), he will stay at Worcester; he's not going to come up to sit on the bench.
  22. I just always found it incredible that he never allowed a grand slam in the majors while pitching that long and for that many innings. He did walk home a run 13 times (something he was not afraid to do, reasoning 1 run was better than 4). There was an article I saw a while back in which the reporter started giving him a list of 12 names. The reporter got 3 names in and Palmer responded oh, those are the guys I walked with the bases loaded.
  23. Jim Palmer is the poster child for this. In 19 years, 558 games and 3948 innings, he allowed 303 home runs. 193 were solo shots. 83 were 2-run homers 27 were 3-run homers 0 were grand slams (he did allow one in a minor league game to some guy named Johnny Bench). He also apparently never allowed back-to-back homers.
  24. It's still yesterday in Oakland for a couple more hours.
