    Nate has 69 strikes out of 84 pitches. When a pitcher has that kind of percentage, there’s no sense trying to work the count unless you like to hit 0-2.

    Well, I’d cut those two a little slack since they haven’t had a whole lot of PT at the major league level over the past couple months. I’m just glad to see Plawecki start today. Vazquez is close to being on fumes as much as he’s played recently and there’s 2 months to go. I really would like to see them split time 60-40 for a while.

    It was a stupid pitch sequence by Cole; he blew two 98-99 mph fastballs past Duran and then tried to get cute. He throws another heater up and Duran probably strikes out. I get the 0-2 curve down; change the eye level. After that was just sheer arrogance. What was it Ted Williams said about how dumb pitchers can be.

    I know you did. And I said at the time the 7th was too early. Years ago, the Sox would sometimes run for Ortiz in the 8th. Often as not, his spot would come up in the 9th or 10th snd he’s on the bench. Never pinch run until you have to.

    Dalbec scores on a hit to the outfield. You can’t plan a pinch runner around trying to score from second on an infield hit.
