  1. I still think Buchholz is finished in Boston. They need to find another decent starter. Clay can go elsewhere to fulfill his star potential.
  2. Why do I feel like part of the invading Barbarian horde?
  3. I don't know how you define elite, but Papelbon has had good numbers since leaving the Sox. He is not as good as he was in his prime, but he is still effective. Uehara had a freakishly great season in 2013. He was elite for that season, but Papelbon has a longer track record as a good reliever. Of course Koji started his MLB career at age 34 while Paps started at age 24. Both were elite in certain seasons. Neither one is the equal of Mariano Rivera, if that is the true measure of elite. Papelbon stats
  4. I thought Farrell should have pulled Kelly sooner but I also understand he has to consider avoiding burning out the bullpen. The last two starts have really put him in a bind.
  5. Today bullpen, tomorrow the door. Clay is on his way out, one way or another.
  6. My favorite Sox player of all time. Great pitcher, great competitor, great human being.
  7. Yeah, I thought about that myself. I never should have brought up the subject!
  8. Hanley was really injured. He has a bum shoulder that he aggravated. Unfortunately, Clay seems to be healthier than he has ever been. I guess good health doesn't suit him. Time for him to take his services elswhere, as the Sox have really stuck with him for long enough. It just isn't working for him in Boston anymore.
  9. Media gadflies should be having a field day today with both JBJ's hitting streak ending and Clay's poor performance. I'm sure many in the Boston media will rip Farrell for these two things.
  10. It's the don't change what's working mentality. That somehow this will mess JBJ up.
  11. Media gadflies are questioning JBJ leading off. Legitimate concern or superstition?
  12. I hear Farrell is going to move JBJ to leadoff for tonights game. Mookie is sitting. Anyone want to criticize Farrell for this potential move if he actually does it? Who believes this will endanger the hitting streak? Personally, I just shrug it off, even if JBJ goes hitless tonight.
  13. Must be your Seattle Mariners. They are having a fine season so far. Maybe we'll meet in the ALCS?
  14. Dicek was pretty mediocre and a frustrating pitcher to watch. He was hyped so far beyond his actual ability. We never got to see the mysterious gyro ball but I'll bet it was delicious. The Yanks Tanaka, when healthy, is far superior to DiceK.
  15. Lowell carried Manny's water for him late in that season while Manny was trying to figure out what knee hurt.
  16. Interesting stat: In 2004, 2007, and 2013 the Red Sox led or tied for the MLB lead in team doubles.
  17. Fenway is a doubles park.
  18. I love how Farrell has managed this team into first place. Brilliant!
  19. Wow, this team loves hitting at Fenway! A scoring machine!
  20. It does have side effects.
  21. I'm regular enough already. Raisin Bran would be overkill.
  22. I think JBJ's hitting streak is very exciting, especially considering the struggles he went through. I love the team spirit it is fueling. Papi's great start is also inspiring the team. It doesn't really matter if records are broken because hitting success seems contagious on this team. Just incredible how many are performing at such a high level. Coco Puffs used to be the best until I started trying to eat healthier. Now Cheerios rule.
  23. Sorry, my post came out so fugly I deleted it.
  24. I did all my yard work yesterday. The pollen count was so high my sinuses are killing me today so I stayed in today and watched the game. I hate to say it, but I rarely find game threads that much fun.
  25. It may be a good time to buy low on Sonny Gray.
