  1. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS. i REMEMBER SOME THINGS BECAUSE OF SOME EVENT. lIKE MY FIFTH BIRTHDAY IN 1929. i GOT "LOST" IN A SNOWSTORM ON cHRISTMAS eVE! (nOW WHERE THE HELL IS TTHAT STUPID CELL PHONE?) Doerr or Pedroia? Tought camm, but Doerr because of his power. He probably won more games with his bat than Pety has saved with his glove.(Sorry about the capitalizing. Most of the time I don't know what I've written until I'm finished and haul out the almost usless 2X glass! I'll try and be more carefull next time!
  2. 30 mil a year for about 15 years sounds about right to me!
  3. Mookie is so f---ed up, it's hard to watch? David, come up here and get him straightened out!
  4. Found some short videos that do show Foxx's swing. I wish I could paste it beside Devers swing/I used to think they all looked alike.
  5. Yes, there is a Devers thread. It''s NOT too early for a comparison thread. What got me started was finding the stats that say 6' 195 lbs. FOR BOTH DEVERS AND FOXX! Stats from the 1939 season. (please excuse typos. I have s “slight’ eyesight problem) In 1939 Jimmie Foxx played in 124 games for the Red Sox. He hit .350 with 35 HR and 105 RBI In 1939 Ted Williams played in 143 games for the Sox. He hit .327 with 31 HR and 145 RBI In 2017 Raphael Devers has played in 16 games for the Sox He is hitting .339 with with 6 HR and 12 RBI Foxx and Devers are both 6’ and 195 lbs. They look alike even with different nationalities. WHICH ONE WILL DEVERS COME CLOSEST TO (or exceed) BTW Iwas born in 1924. Foxx played his first game with the Sox when I was 11 years old. His last for the Sox) when I was 17. I think I saw him play more than I did Williams! (I lived in Somerville)
  6. Thank you. Maybe some NESN guy could bring out some film. Koxx in 1937 (left isde picture) and Devers90 years later hittin in the right handing slot. I guess synchronizing might be a problem, but they could slow it down! I'll keep waitin; if they ever do something like that I'd probably miss it anyway!
  7. I kep thinking, 'he's 20!'. He is seeing shots come off the bats at a speed he's never experienced in his life! From what I have seen, he;ll be OK no matter where they plaay him. Jimmie Foxx was also 6' 195, and did OK. No. No range, but caught everything he could reach. If hr hits .350 every year, with 40 home runs, they won;t care if his fielding a compareable to Tdde"s!
  8. Tge first time I saw Devers swing a bat, I thought, "My God, Jimmie Foxx is back" except he's batting left handed! This AM I'm reading the hot "news" and I am thinking the same thing. So, I looked them up on MLB. Result: Foxx----6' 195 Devers--6' 195 NY what a coincidence!
  9. I hate to say this, butt I think Brock Holt will go after Pedroia gets back. He's looking worse every game.
  10. Guys, you are looking at the LH hitting Jimmie Foxx! Even the body!
  11. Come om. man' get this guy out pf there before he hurts himself.
  12. Tired? He's 20 years old! He could play back-to-back doubleheaders and not get tired. This young man is thest non-ballhooed rookie I've ever seen.
  13. Maybe that jackass will keep this kid in the linup from now on! (And Vazuez as well). And don't give me this -catchers for -pitcers crap! The one game Sales didn't have it, they blamed on Vazquez! He had his lineup Sat. Why the hell didn't he keep it?
  14. What? Holt in, Devers out? Kid almost knocks the CF fench down, and now he's on the bench? Both LH hitters? C-om Man!
  15. I think this Red Sox team is the best "balanced" team I can remember. The Cronin-Foxx- Williams era(s) were loaded wuth power, obviously, but Cronin and Foxx, in particular, had very little range in the field. This team (7 of 9) can run, they all have enough powere, and more than enough speed. Right now the starting pitcing looks as good as it ever did!
  16. I can just see what you guys would be saying if 1)it was abad throw and Nunez scored, or 2) he was just plain safe and scored the tying runon the fly ball! Great! Wonderful aggressiveness! Odds in his favor! Love this aggresiveness! etc etc etc. Hypocrisy runs deep here.
  17. I can. the runner had a better chance of scoring from third than he did from second. Throw was perfect, had to be; else he comes in on the fly ball.
  18. Where the hell did this Reed come from---and why?
  19. More little lineup changes. I like it! Keeps the guys interested!
  20. There's a rumour going around that JF is picking his 8 starters, then throwing their numbers into a hat, and picking his lineup out, 1-2-3, etc. Works for me!
  21. Maybe it;s time for a new thread!Wading through 50+ pages to see what folks are thinking is a little much. I had come to the conclusion that JF should get into a a whitle color job, He;s very articulate but with little imagination. That may be changing. Changing his lineup every other game hasgiven the players something to think about and get almost excited about. Where do I hit today? Might be interesting, right? I'm finally thinking JF has an imagination chord.
  22. One, three, five, eight, Who do we appreciate Mookie, Fevie, Noonine and Vaz Makes is remember Dewey and Yaz
  23. Let's hope that's enough for Ricky.
  24. Moncado was wildly ballihoud, and it should have taken some coach somewhere to put a stop to it. Any true baseball coach should have seen what he was in about 5 at bats. It took one AB in a Sox uniform until I knew he couldn't hit. It's called the "Eye Test" PS: The exact opposite was true with Devers. He has wait wait wiat quick quick quick written all over him. Add an unusually steady and quiet bat to that and, man, you;ve got a hitter!
  25. Wasn't this supposed to be Devers thread? Somebody better start a new one.
