  1. Sorry about the typos, Sir. I am almost 93 and have a macro degeneration problem. I am not a motjerf***er, and I do both buy and sell on eBay. You're the first person I have run across in 20 years that doesn't know what eBay is!
  2. Wanna gamble? Sox lose tomorrow and Yanks win---buy tickets now on eBay for Sunday/s game.
  3. 2 yickets, nuy it mow, om eBay---Sunday's game---$300 May be gone by now. scalpers are getting what?
  4. Anyone else think that this is a very significant thrashing?
  5. Being a born rationalizer. my first thought is "it's better to see waht we have with RP now, than after the playoffs begin"
  6. Back to Devers. Anybody noticed he is not shy about turnint loose on thefirst pitch? Or, when 3-1? Contrary to what he Sox announcers preach, he is not satsified with a ground ball to 2nd bas. His swing isquick, hard and total. I love it!
  7. one interesting stat when comparing Foll, Manny and Aaron: When you simply use AB's and RBI proficieny, Foxx is a shade better than Manny, but both were twuce as proficiebnt as Hank! Now what, compare on base men-on=nase totals for every game every lineup every ballpark? Not me! Or use totel runs scored? No. Aarondid not play on powerhouse teams, they were about pitching, pitching, and more pitching. But Jimmie;s years of 140 or more IBIs is startking.
  8. Try these on for size, Jimmie Foxx in Year BA HR RBI 1929 .354 23 118 1932 .364 32 116 1937 356 48 163 1938 .349 50 175 Note that ehes numbers ae 9 years apart!
  9. Agreed. And I hope it happens naturally, and not made up beccause of a single incident.
  10. Hm-m-m I think that should read 6-0, don't you? Sorry about that. One eye totally blind, the other headed that way! What I should do is type them out in a 20 font, then cut and paste.,
  11. Thanls. Dewey! That was a great day for me, The only live look I've had since! I am at Barkley Place, now (old folks) I may get to see a couple of ST games. We have cars and buses tht tht mak the VA clinic run, as well as 2 or 3 Publox run each week. I hear they went to the 3 games last year. 2 Sox and 1 Twins. U'll look forward to that; maybe catch this Devers kid catch hold of a 102.5 fast ball!
  12. No, are you blind? I saw Jimmie Foxx at least a dozen times after he came to theSox. The likeness is obvious. One swings from the right side, one from the left. In my opinion Jimmie Foxx was the greatest RH hitter of all times. Of course I was blind in one eye, and about about 13-14 years old. Why don't you print and sace this post, then look at it 5 or 10 years from now!
  13. Both men listed as 6-9m 195 Jimmie had 6 HR in his first 171 ABs (in Philly) Devers has 10 in his first 171 ABs And Devers is 29 years old!
  14. IMO, JF has ben 10x the manager since the all star beak than he was before the break. Re/ Sale: ale calls his own game and his own shots. Odds are that he will get one 5-inning game before the season ends, and that will be with his full agreement.
  15. New material ffrom sunny Ft Myers: I Could Not Believe My Ears My radio cackled, Battery half dead, The volume so low I could barely hear What the guy said. But he was excited So I made my ear a cup And bent close to hear: That my TV company Had gone b(t)elly-up!
  16. Meanwhile, it just occurred to me that the average age of the new Sox Six Man Xadre is 241/2. Devers, the four "B Boys" and Vazquez will be here long after I'm gone! Who will be plaing 1B, 2B and the DH is the real mystery!
  17. It'll be spring training time before we get a reliable internet or TV here inFt. Myers. I would not hold any Xfbiity stock if you gave it to me. Cpmcast MAY recover, but it may take forever. I see a an AT&T type breakup as a possibility.
  18. Anybody notice? Rich Hill gave up 4 hits, struck out nine and gave up his first HR in 10 starts. A 3-2 winner. We could hard him, shyyda had him, woulda had him (if DD was as smart as he;s supposed to be) Six mill it would have taken.
  19. I jumped in here, because the thead was about Devers. Ah, well. Talk all we want about has-been free agents, but unless I'm way off base, I will say that toung Devers will be the highest pai position player on this team. Or should be! This is the best prospect the Red Sox have had since they smuggled Teddy out of California!
  20. Me too. Then 80 piches the start after that. This huy is the key to the entire Playoffs!
  21. I will be very disappointed (even disturbed) if theytake Devers out of the regular lineup. The 8 HR's cannot be looked at as "luck" or a "mistake". The kid has a killer swing and kille power. So, he learns a little between now and the playoffs? That; going to make a won-lost difference? No. It gives him a little time to learn such basics as when to look for the knuckle curve, and that slider almost in the dirt. He's 20 FOR CS! He may not hit .150 between now and Oc 1! So what. Neither will Hanley eithe. Don't f*** this kid up, John!
  22. Will Devers be back in there soon? After a few throwing lessons?
  23. Big question for me is, "Can anyone in the organization wean young Devers awayb from his hop, skip and a jump throwing style? It is bound to affect his hitting as well as his overall confidence,
