    Remember when I pointed out how Cora said he wanted to get Abreu more playing time, and the man "in front" of the curtain said, "Why, so we can watch him kick the ball around RF?" (BTW, it's the same guy who bashed our GM for trading 2 months of Vaz for Abreu & Valdez.) Cue sound of crickets.

    Good stuff. I also think GMs, managers and pitching coaches are looking at spin rates as well as velocity. Just watching Pivetta and Crawford pitch, it just looks like the ball is breaking way more than in the past. Just my take.

    There has always been a revolving door of these type of players that seem totally washed up to one team. I have very few regrets about anyone we DFA'd in the last 5 years or so- maybe longer. We've done pretty good with some of the guys we've picked up from waivers- sometimes just for a short period, but sometimes for a few years.     Criswell and Gutierrez was it for acquired depth. It was clear, they wanted to get long looks at the 6 we had, 5 after Gio went down. It's hard to imagine they didn't expect some injuries and missed starts. Thinking only Criswell & Gutierrez would be enough is painfully similar to past blunders. I guess they viewed Wink ar starter depth, or felt pen games were such a success, last year, we should plan on more for this year. These aren't even expensive deals to make. Some add no salary to the budget, at all. This is plain stupidity.

    That certainly has been the talk, but remember, "Houck can't get beyond 18 batters and doesn't have a 3rd pitch." Also, when have Houck or Crawford gone 28 starts?

    I remember a poster, maybe it was the always right Red, who said we should add him to the 40 as IF depth, and you said he wasn't hitting well. (He did right after that.)

    Somebody claimed Jacques- oh yea, the NL Champs did. Somebody claimed Braiser, last year. You never know, but who cares. Nobody will miss Bobby Dee.

    I agree. I'd be okay with Casas to the 60, Copper added to the 26 and Dalbec sent to AAA, but I do think he is toast, so just cut ties. Add Westbrook in his place, or even Kavadas.

    I disagree that a Sox GM needs to spend as much as every GM, and certainly not $50M more. There are a few crazy spenders in MLB. Nobody should be expected to match them. That being said, I do think he should spend up to the tax line, every year, at minimum. Going over, when it looks like you just need 2-3 key pieces makes a lot of sense, at least from time to time. Reset, when before you get to year 3 is fine with me.

    CBS Injury Report says after June 1st, but this could be a whole season missed. A 60 Day IL could be used to make room for Cooper.

    I seem to remember we were interested in Cooper, last year, but that was a different. I will not likely hi 109 OPS+, this year, but he has to be better than Dalbec. Demoting or DFA'ing Dalbec does force Reyes to be the only 3Bman on the 26.

    I would say being 13-11 through all this is a second positive.

    Either way: We missed or are missing 3 of 5 or 3 of 6 scheduled rotation arms AND 5 of 9 everyday starters. That is or was over half of the starters. On top of that, we had Martin and Jansen, our top 2 RP'ers, miss a lot of ST'ing, and it seems to have affected their numbers out of the gate. Ref was sorely missed. Romy is probably better than DHam, and the Sox mst have thought so. He's out, too. We are having a year like the Yankees.
