  1. That list included Rafaela, who is better in CF. That list includes Grissom & Romy, who are on the IL. I'm fine with DFA'ing someone like Dalbec or DHam, but it does leave us short at 1B and 3B depth, if Dalbec and SS depth, if DHam. I guess with Devers back, Reyes can play SS just as poorly. I guess Wong, Reyes or Refsnyder can be the back-up 1Bman. How would you rank the value to this team for these guys (assuming Grissom returns and Romy is healthy?) Reyes Romy Valdez DHam Dalbec (I assume this is your order with the most valuable on top.)
  2. If we DFA an infielder, I'd want an infielder added, too. We still have only Dalbec backing up 1B. We still have just Dalbec & Reyes backing up 3B. We have nobody I trust backing up Rafaela at SS. Once Grissom returns, we'll have plenty of back-up 2Bmen: Reyes, Valdez, DHam and maybe Romy when he returns. (I forgot to add DHam to my DFA list.)
  3. The count could easily go to 5 or 6, maybe 7 or 8. Here is my new DFA list: Gutierrez Booser Uwasawa Dalbec Walter Heineman Romy Gonzalez Anderson Mata
  4. Our offense has certainly been inconsistent, perhaps way more than most other teams with winning records. The second place Yanks have been shut out 4 times and held to 1 run, twice. The Sox have scored these runs in games: 3 x zero runs 5 x 1 run 1 x 2 runs 1 x 3 runs (10 x 0-3 runs) 4 x 4 runs 4 x 5 runs (8 times 4-5 runs) 2 x 6 runs 2 x 7 runs 3 x 8 runs 1 x 9 runs 1 x 12 runs 1 x 17 runs (10 x 6 or more runs)
  5. If he can hit .750 as compared to the .350 Dalbec was hitting, plus .400 is a major improvement. It's all relative. (Also, our 1B OPS for the season is .763.)
  6. Other teams have lop-sided wins, too. If you take away ours, then take theirs away, too. Of course, most teams don't have a 17 run win, but some have large ones. (Our biggest loss was 7-0.)
  7. One fact I never knew. In 1968, Bob Gibson started 34 games and had 28 complete games. He was NEVER taken off the mound, all season! (He was PH for 6 times.)

  9. If HOU wasn't playing in Mexico City, this weekend, I'd say maybe we could pass them, soon.

  14. We could have used them in past game, too. We have 4 one run losses and 1 two run losses. Add 8 runs to the first group and 6 to the second group and we might have 6 more wins!
  15. I guess it's still early enough in the season where one big game can move the needle, a lot. Here are some individual leaps... .463> .576 Rafaela +.113 .660> .730 Yoshida +.070 .268> .350 Dalbec +.082 1.137> 1.208 O'Neill +.071
  16. It's not even close. 17 Rafaela 11 Abreu, Duran, Yoshida, Wong, O'Neill 10 Casas, McGuire, Valdez How about XBHs 10 O'Neill 9 Rafaela 9 Abreu 9 Duran 9 Casas
  17. Well, Dalbec is playing, so he's not DFA'd yet. I doubt we do. He is still the best back up 3Bman we have and has options remaining.
  18. They didn't want the inconsiderate Joely, instead of cash?
  19. Did they DFA Dalbec or send him to AAA? (They could move Casas to the 60 Day IL.)
  20. He certainly gives us the impression it will finally catch up to him, but hey, they guy gets the third out, when needed, pretty often. That being said, he looked better, last year. OPSA .729 '23 .799 '24 WHIP 1.43 '23 1.80 '24
  21. Indeed. While a .740 OPS at 1B is not great (Cooper's 3 year OPS,) it sure beats sub .300, like Dalbec.
  22. Just as suggested. Note: it does not make us right, either.
