    Some fans don't care. IMO, most who pay attention don't think JH could care less. They just think he's being cheap- perhasf for just a while, perhaps not. He cares about making money, and if we keep sucking, eventually it will reach a point where the balance tips and more attention will be needed to spending on the payroll budget. When it makes financial sense, it will likely happen. If we ever reach that point, nobody knows. Caring doesn't mean doing everything some or many fans want done.

    As well as the Yanks are doing, their offense seems very dependent on two batters and maybe 3 others that do okay.     Woo lost as Horn let up 3 in the 8th. Hagenman & Uwasawa both went 3 scoreless. Meidroth, Sogard and Kavadas all walked- Alvarez did 3 X. POR won 10-4. Perales 5IP, 2H, 0ER, 1BB, 7K Miller homered. Mayer 1-3 w 2BB Teel 1-4 w BB GRE shutout 4-0 but Mullins pitched a good 4. (8Ks)

    I feel bad for Bello. It looked like he was going to go 6 with less than 3 runs (for once,) but the 7th bit him in the ass. (Slaten let an inherited runner score.) He just can't seem to give a start without a mini meltdown.

    Ref needs to play (DH mostly) everyday. He is even hitting RHPs better than LHPs. If we starts slumping, then try someone else.

    I say what I'd do, but I never pretend to know more than Cora. I think being a DH is about as good as a day or rest. On days off, players still take batting practice.

    Devers sucks. He only hits solo homers and when they don't count.

    I'm not so sure, but it's possible. It sounded like he was ready to sign and extension, years before, but his Mom talked him out of it. Seemed like it was about money, then, anyway.

    In terms of having a better team around him, yes, but we could have paid him more than LAD did.

    Huh? I'm saying Cooper and Smith should never DH. I've said that all along. I wanted Kavadas called up to platoon with Cooper at 1B.

    It was and is what it is. They have their reasons, but the fact is, spending cuts were coming and DD was not the guy for that. We did him a favor.

    There is just no way DD fits into the Rays Noth philosophy.

    I'm not sure it matters- the reason. It was probably a few things combined. With major cuts to the budget on the horizon, it was not going to be a good fit for DD or the Sox. That is not how DD is best situated.

    I'm staying for 4 days with an old friend I haven't seen in 30 years, who lives an hour from Sevilla, after landing in Barcelona. We are later meeting some friends from Mexico who are travelling the area around Porto, Portugal. After spending some days with them in Porto and Lisbon, we will rent a car and drive down the coast to Faro. From their, we fly to Bilbao for 3 days, then to Madrid for 2 days before coming home in mid July. We went to Europe 12 years ago for 9 weeks. It took us 2 months to plan, almost every night after work for 2-4 hours.

    I made it to Portland, today. I'm only staying 3 weeks, this summer, then I'm taking the wife to Spain & Portugal. I think my streak of watching consecutive Sox games, some on tape delay, will end in June.
