  1. I’m more than prepared: I expect nothing major, this deadline and this coming winter, too. I’m just voicing my view that we are overloaded on everyday players, especially in the OF and with LHBs. We should trade from our strength to address our higher need areas. We also have too much quantity and not enough high quality players. One or two trades of3 for 1 seems justified.
  2. I call the Ruth for cash a trade.
  3. We could get both and still have a decent farm, but getting one is certainly doable, while keeping enough of a farm to keep the future looking bright. We have 3 big prospects and the second tier 3 are poised to form a new "big 3." I think we can get Crochet or Skubal for 1 of the big 3 and maybe 1-2 prospects from #7 and below. I could be wrong. Maybe it takes a top 3 and a 4-6.
  4. We could be serious buyers without it costing all that much. Guys like Crochet and Skubal have 2 arbs, left and don't cost much, this year. We could get both and still cut salary, next year by not replacing Jansen, Martin, O'Neill and Pivetta.
  5. I think the determination is being based on current results, not the reasoning, at the time. IMO, the reasoning at the time made more sense than the Ruth, Betts, Cooper, Lyle and Bagwell trades.
  6. There really doesn't seem to be a runaway AL top team, so in that way, I think the AL Championship is pretty much a "crapshoot." (Did I just say that?) As of now, I think we should pick the buyer's lane, but 10 more days could change that, reinforce it or make it obvious to buy.
  7. Not saying it was a good trade. It looks horrible, now. 1. There is a long way to go before the final grade is in. 2. There are plenty of horrific trades in Sox history... maybe more than 5 are worse. I'm thinking Babe Ruth, Betts, Sparky Lyle, Bagwell, Cecil Cooper just off the top of my head. 3. It was one year of Sale.
  8. Try and have a nice BD, anyway.
  9. Not even worst 5 on just a Sox list.
  10. No Ref to PH for Abreu? (Watch him homer, now... LOL)
  11. Agreed. His career high in games is this year's 43. 2022: 19 (.874 OPS) 2023: 34 (.580) 2024: 43 (.750) Career: .720 in 392 ABs Hard to tell, if someone is streaky in such short and broken sample sizes.
  12. They may trade for Crochet and Skubal.
  13. So, instead of expanding to 32 teams, which is probably goin g to happen, someday, would you prefer we contract to 28 teams (4 x 7 team divisions) or maybe 27 (realign to 3 x 9 team divisions.) Disband 2-3 FROM OAK, TBR, CWS or MIA? 14. I think we score 4-5 or more runs, tonight. Crawford needs to bring his A game after a long rest.
  15. I realize deadline deals seem to be more overpays than winter deals, but Crochet and Skubal both have 2 arb years left. I'd like to see us make a play for them. It would probably take a big 3, or maybe Campbell plus Bleis or Cespedes to get the talks started. There has been a lot of talk about which of the 3 (or 4 with Campbell included,) is most expendable. I see it this way: Mayer fits into our highest non pitching need area (middle IF.) He is at the top of my avid a trade list. Teel is a legit catcher. Even though we have Wong, catchers are too few and far between to trade him over an OF'er (see Anthony/Campbell.) Anthony or Campbell are both very promising, and I don't feel like I am devaluing them or writing them off by saying one could be traded for a TOTR pitcher, and we could absorb the loss. We have Duran, Rafaela, Abreu and whoever we keep from these two to take Ref's place in or after 2025. We also have Lugo, Yorke or Valdez to maybe play LF, if we need one. Bleis and Cespedes are too far away to have high enough trade value to get a TOTR pitcher. Their upside is too high to trade, now. We could include Fitts, Sandlin, Perales, E R-C or Dobbins, in a package for a SP'er with 2 or more years of team control. If anyone insists on Lugo, Yorke, paulino, Castro or Jordan, none should hold up a good deal.
  16. Lets hope Paxton doesn't bite or ass like Kike did.
  17. How about... To BOS: Fedde (1 yrs left at $7.5M) and Tanner Scott (Rental) To CWS: Abreu, Zeferjahn To MIA: Shuster, Yorke & 2 from Lugo/Paulino/Castro/Jordan
  18. I'd do this. I think Yorke could help ease the loss of the LHB Abreu in the OF by being a RHB in LF, but you gotta give to get.
  19. Crawford vs Paxton. NYY & BAL have already lost. 1. Romy 1B 2. Duran LF 3. O'Neill RF 4. Devers 3B 5. Wong C 6. Yoshida DH 7. Westbrook 2B 8. DHam SS 9. Rafaela CF Turn the tide, tonight!
  20. Agreed.
  21. Maybe he's one of those late bloomers.
  22. OBP is often not something that transfers well to MLB. The list is long of those who can't do it. If we go by OBP, why not bring Dalbec back up? .363 OBP in minors/.290 in MLB. Others: .398 Cordero .396 Alex Hasan .392 Beni .384 Basabe .375 Lavarnway .372 Cecchini .370 Lars Anderson
  23. Okay, yes, that makes more sense, but getting a pitcher, now, might make it work, especially if the pitcher is not a rental.
  24. I think the theory behind a move like this is that the drop off from trading Abreu, who looks like a platoon OF'er, to a Refsnyder vs LHPs and rafaela from SS to CF v RHPs is not that great. Maybe Lugo or Yorke could play LF until Anthony is ready. Maybe EValdez or Grissom can play well enough to move Rafaela to CF FT. It does seem counterintuitive to trade one of our best hitters, but we are LHB heavy, and we need pitching more than a LHB.
