I think the idea is their mismanagement title might help us dupe them.
We have a boat load of everyday prospects. It should not go against our long term plan to build for the future by trading young everyday players/prospects for a young pitcher.
I'm not sure why we only get a low ranked prospect for Pivetta, unless he struggles between now and the deadline.
Since May 25th, 2023 (over a year ago) only 10 pitchers have an ERA- better than Nick's 72 (102 pitchers with 130+ IP)
For the FIP fans, this might blow you away: xFIP- leaders since 5/28/23:
62 Skubal
63 Glasnow
71 Pivetta
71 Webb
72 Strider
SIERA
2.72 Skubal
2.83 Pivetta
2.88 Glasnow
3.04 Strider
His 2.7 fWAR in this time is equal to Houck's.
I think you guys are undervaluing this guy.
At some point, we might see Mayer, Anthony an Teel promoted to AAA.
Yoshida & Heineman to MLB (Dalbec & Westbrook to AAA)
Meidroth back to 3B
Romero to SS at AAA
Rosario to C at AA or just go with Marrero & Donlan at C
Jh Garcia to OF in AA
(Bleis just moved up to GRE)
Maybe Zanetello to GRE
McElveny to co-C at GRE
Cespedes to SS at SAL
Yorke
Nick Yorke settling in offensively at Triple-A

It was treated like a business before JH, too. Maybe more so, at times.
They never made that one key big purchase to get us over the top. They chose to stay just good enough to keep fan interest.
The notification of the trade was indeed a fiasco.
We traded him at the right time. He was about to decline.
His numbers with pitchers, when compared to his back-up, were worrisome, to say the least.
Expect all you want, but expectations should be tied to reality, and the reality is, JH ain't spending.
Wish for it, want it, pray for it, believe we can and should do it, but expecting it is denying the reality.
I suggested 2 or 3 players for a prospect or two. I'm not seeing how that suggests Pivetta for 2 prospects.
My post:
What can we realistically get for Pivetta & Jansen?
We could maybe add O'Neill and Martin, if they are showing value, or even McGuire, if a team needs a catcher or back-up catcher.
Maybe a package of Pivetta, Jansen and McGuire can get us a decent ML ready prospect or two.
You replied on Pivetta only as a 15-20 prospect "maybe."
Sounds low to me.
He's been better on D. Better than sucky is not saying he's good.
He's already at over 2/3 of the innings as 2023.
dWAR o.o v -0.5 in '23 (B-R)
DRS: -1 vs -6 in '23
UZR/150: +5.1 v -7.4 in '23
OAA (fangraphs): -1 v -4 in '23
Looks considerably better but still not good,
I coulda sworn the numbers I gave was what B-R had over his last 18 IP, but you are right.
Take away Pivetta's worst game and he has a 2.54 ERA- worth only low prospect, according to MVP.
He's always had major BB issues, and I think the 48 IP in AA, last year got everyone overly excited, despite the 28 BBs.
I guess guys from 15-30 are not far apart, anyway.
Top 7 prospects on many contenders is not all that good.
BTW, BA had Valdez 12 and Abreu 21, but some felt Abreu was the better prospect. (I'm not asking for 2 prospects.)
BTW, Vaz was not their starting catcher after the trade.
