  1. The Phillies may be shopping for a catcher, since Realmutto needs surgery. Thier 5th starter sucks (Walker) and they might want a closer. What could we get from them for Pivetta (reunites w PHI), McGuire and Jansen?
  2. ...and the anger was more about him not selling. I'm pretty sure we will be sellers, even if we are within 3-5 games of the WC slots.
  3. Agreed. Except for Wikelman, many of our top prospects and a few of the farther away ones have done pretty good to great, so far. It seems like there are now more than just 3 to have high hopes on, and the big three have done nothing to lower their stock, so far. The Big 3 .856 Roman Anthony .855 Marcelo Mayer .853 Kyle Teel (Amazing how they all have almost exactly the same OPS) The Rising 3 .996 Kristian Campbell (This kid looks for real!) .929 Jhostynxon Garcia (Maybe the biggest surprise) .726 Bleis (staying healthy: promoted to A+) The Welcome Back 3 1.110 Matthew Lugo (was pretty highly rated, once before) .966 Niko Kavadas (maybe belongs in the Career AAA category) .754 Nick Yorke (came alive in AAA SSS at 1.246) The Still Far Away but Looking Good 3 1.063 Johanfran Garcia (SSS due to IL) 1.009 Yoelin Cespedes (Getting attention) .786 Frankin Arias (FCL) Have to work on some things/Career AAA 3 .892 Mickey Gaspar .867 Nick Sogard .801 Chase Meidroth The Pitchers: May Graduate Soon/Recent Graduate 3 (OPS Against) .553 at MLB level Justin Slaten .288 Zach Kelly (.539 in MLB in 84 PAs Against) .374 Cam Booser (.667 in MLB w 101 PAs Against) The Near MLB Ready 3 .671 Richard Fitts .710 Luis Guerrero .536 Bailey Horn The Surprising 4 .593 Zach Penrod .631 Perales (promoted to AA, but on IL) .642 Hunter Dobbins (AA) .695 Hayden Mullins (A+) The Far Away 3 .354 Ovis Portes (promoted to SAL) .514 Juan Valera (FCL) .668 Connelly Early (A+) The More Highly Ranked 6 .611 Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz #16 (A-) .771 David Sandlin #9 (A+) .755 Wikelman Gonzalez #15 (AA and lost) .809 Yordanny Monegro #20 (A+) .685 Angel Bastardo #28 (AA) .634 Ryan Zeferjahn #30 (AAA) Not So Sure About 8 .534 Jonathan Brand (promoted to AA) .551 Blake Wehunt (promoted to A+) .572 Helcris Olivarez (AA) .582 Danny Kirwin (A-) .600 Jojo Ingrassia (A-) .676 Matt Duffy (A-) .682 Jedixson Paez (promoted to A+) .717 I Coffey (AA) The Meh 5 .731 Grant Gambrel .744 Jason Alexander (IL) #40 Bryan Mata #46 Brandon Walter .769 #47 Dalton Rogers
  4. The pitching is way better.
  5. Smith or Dalbec, when Casas returns, but maybe Keller, Horn or Mata. I think we see I Campbell called up, real soon: Keller or Kelly demoted.
  6. I mistakenly looked at 92 not 93
  7. 2 years in a row, on a team that had Boggs, Clemens, Mo Vaughn and a couple others.
  8. We should have traded Boget, JD, Nate, Wacha, Duval, Hill and anything and everything not tied down.
  9. Chagrin this!! 2024 SS OPS .723 Red Sox SS .581 Bogey Maybe Bogey at $225M/5 might not have been all that great, no? (LOL)
  10. Woo blew the game late, but I Campbell looks ready to return, in force. 4 outs: 3Ks, no H, no BB Yorke 2 more hits & BB (1.246) POR won 9-5 as K Campbell went nutty. 4-5 w 2B (1.107) Anthony 3-5 w 3B (,856) Teel 2-5 (.853) Binelas 4-5 w 2B+ HR and 4 rbi (.737) GRE doen 14-7 late as Wehunt got smacked. JH Garcia 2-4 w HR (1.033) Gonzo 3-4 w 2Hrs and 6 rbi Coffey 2-5 w 2B & HR SAL won 3-1 behind Duffy 5 IP 1 ER and Kirwin 4IP 0 ER Brannon & Anderson homered.
  11. Houck is on pace to blow away his career high in IP at any level of baseball. He has also had an injury history. Do we think he should get 190+ IP, this year?
  12. Here is a Q, who wins a 7 game series (w 2 days off) between Woo and POR?
  13. Fickle is probably a better word than "spoiled." I'm not going to say it sucked being a Sox fan for decades before 2004, because I enjoyed being one, despite the many heart-breaking moments, along the way. That ring in 2004 was long-awaited and deeply appreciated. Had we never won, again, JH & Co did more than any other owner group could do for over 8 decades. The fact that we won, three years later, then again 6 more years later was icing on the cake. That 2013 season, after Theo was gone and all that happened to the city of Boston, that year was amazing. All the last place finishes, starting in 2012 surrounded the 2023 ring, the three year run under DD's reign and the nice run in 2021, were hard to stomach, but even if you cherry pick 2012 or 2019 as the beginning of the "downturn," we've had some bright spots peppered in there. 2012-2024 (12 years plu part of a 13th) 6 last place finishes 1 third place (currently in 3rd) 1 second place (made it to ALCS) 4 first place (2 rings/2 early exits) How many MLB teams have 2 rings in the last 12 years? Three teams with 2 Rings: BOS (13 + 18) HOU (17-cheated + 22) SF (12 + 14) 6 Teams with 1 ring: TEX '23 ATL '21 LAD '20 (short season) WSH '19 (immediate decline) CHC '16 KCR '15 (pretty bad afterwards) 21 teams with ZERO RINGS! 2019-2023+ (5 years plus part of 2024) 3 last places 1 3rd place (currently 3rd) 1 second (lost in ALCS) How many teams have been to the ALCS/NLCS in the last 5 years? 12 teams: 5 HOU 2 ATL 2 LAD 2 NYY 2 PHI BOS AZ TEX SDP TBR WSH STL 18 teams have not made it to the league championship series in the last 5 years. This is not meant to show we are doing well, or that I'm happy with these results in the worst, cherry-picked sample sizes I can find. This is not much fun. It was more fun in the most of the 70's, part of the 80's and 90's and all of the years from 2003-2018 than these last 5 years. This is not a good stretch, but 18 teams have not been to the ALCS/NLCS in this stretch, for what that is worth.
  14. Wouldn't it be better, if they did not "NEED" more time?
  15. Yup, and D Smith sure shut me the hell up. 1.039 last 9 games (34 PAs) w 6 rbi (.848 last 62 PAs)
  16. So far, he has not cooled off, that much. Fingers crossed. .853 last 5 games. .865 last 12 .848 last 18
  17. And, the found a spot for Ref to play (RF, tonight) as Yoshi DHs.
  18. It should be the least risky, but DHs do get hurt.
  19. If they are ready, we can promote all of the big 3 without compromising our ML depth at AAA.
  20. So, there is a guy at Woo that Mayer could replace, without hurting our ML depth pool.
