  1. One of the worst baserunning blunders I have ever seen. Why isn't the 3B coach paying attention?
  2. Alex Speas DFA'd. McGuire is out of options, so do we go with 3 catchers (using Wong at 1B/2B a bit?) Send Westbrook to AAA?
  3. We can get another RHB (1B, SS, 2B) for a mid level prospect(s,) but yes, pitching, pitching, pitching needs to be added.
  4. To BOS: Danny Jansen To TOR: Cutter Coffey, Paulino & G Batista To BOS: James Paxton To LAD: Moises Bolivar (IF on DSL Blue) To BAL: Zach Eflin (RHP) To TBR: Matthew Etzel (OF,) Jackson Baumeister (RHP,) and Mac Horvath (UT) To PHI: Carlos Estevez To LAA: George Klassen (P) & Samuel Aldegheri (P) To PHI: Austin Hays (OF) To BAL: S Dominguez (RHP) & C Pache (OF) To AZ: AJ Puk To Mia: Deybison De Los Santos, Andrew Pintar To SEA: Randy Arozarena (OF) a RHB To TBR: Brody Hopkins (single A RHP) and Aidan Smith (OF) + PTBNL To NYY: Jazz Chisholm To MIA: Agustin Ramirez (C-prospect) and 2 others. To SEA: Yimi Garcia To TOR: Jonatan Clase (OF) To NYM: Ryne Stanek (RP) To SEA: Rhylam Thomas (OF) To MIL: Nick Mears To COL: Bradley Blalock & Y Herrera
  5. Paulino & Batista added to Jansen deal.
  6. He was one of the best pitchers the Sox could have used. There are still others.
  7. We have enough players we can DFA to make room for McGuire on an IL stint.
  8. I think McGuire gets traded or DFA'd. Wong can DH or play some 2B/1B, when "resting" from catcher duties.
  9. Chisholm has 2 arb years of control, so this trade should help them in 2024 and going forward. While a .730 OPS is not great, it's better than almost everyone else, except Judge, Soto and maybe Wells. Jazz... Career: ,749 Last 3: .771
  10. Bernardino might need a demotion to "work things out," but who do we call up? Keller, Speas or Wingenter? Or add Luetge or Penrod to the 40? We need to trade or DFA McGuire to make room for Jansen, already. (McGuire has no options. Maybe a fake IL stint?)
  11. I'm guessing they will not be too notable. (Maybe a Rule 5 guy we do not plan on protecting, anyway.)
  12. Easy: Kenley: "The Jansen" Danny: "a Jansen"
  13. Danny Jansen bats RH'd but hits better vs RHPs (.747) than LHPs (.697.) No worries, as Wong is pretty close to being the same ve RHPs (.746) as LHPs (.667) career. Jansen v LHPs since 2022: .773. Jansen ranks as such from 2022-2024 among catchers: 14th in fWAR (5.1) 7th in C OPS .776 (Wong is 1th at .737) 6th in SLG .456 (just .001 below Realmuto and .003 below S Perez.) Looks like a solid addition.
  14. My guess is McGuire will be traded for a decent single A prospect or DFA'd.
  15. Done deal: Cutter Coffey for Danny Jansen (Rental RHV Catcher)
  16. Many keep focusing on the Sox weaknesses and think we have little to no chance, but take a look at every other AL team, and the same is true for all of them. Even PHI has looked beatable, of late. 2-5 in last 7 7-10 in last 17 It looks like you don't have to be great to win it all, this year. We should go for it, this deadline.
  17. SDP 8 BAL 0 in the 7th. If they lose, they will be 4-10 in their last 14. They were 8-8 in their previous 16, so it looks like the decline is for real and pretty long-standing.
  18. A 27 year old, proven TOTR pitcher with 3 playoff cycles of control is worth a heft offer. Skubal is no fluke. 2023-2024: 5th in fWAR (7.0) 1st in xFIP 2.66 1st in ERA- (68) 1st in SIERA at 2.79 (Nobody else is even close.) 2022-20244 (300+ IP) 11th in FWAR (10.4) 2nd xFIP (2.93) only Strider is better 2nd in SIERA (3.07 to Strider) 3rd in ERA-(72) 3rd in K/BB (5.4) and 2nd in K-BB% (23.3%) He's the real deal. We need an ace, badly.
  19. It never crossed my mind, either, but it makes sense. Wong can't catch 140 games, and McGuire has been under .450 for 2 months. He's a rental, so he should not be too costly.
  20. I'd choose those two, as well. I do think we could see Mayer at SS and Story at 2B. despite Story's grat D at SS. I think you keep the legit catching prospect, since they are very hard to find. If Wong keep up near .800 offense, we could always trade a catcher or move Wong to 2B/1B/DH and back-up catcher. Mayer's D is light years better than Campbell, and he is a SS, while Campbell is likely a LF'er who might be okay at 2B. I'd prefer a pitcher with 3 or more years of control, but 2.3 years from Skubal gives us 3 shots at a ring, and that is a long enough window, to me. Besides, our farm would still be decent without Anthony and Campbell. I do think we need to replace or return O'Neill, and it might cost $8M+, not $6M. Abreu should not start vs LHPs. Ref can play in 2025, and maybe by 2026 Yorke or Lugo can play LF. (Bleis, Jh Garcia and Cespedes might be ready in '27.) We need to make a major move. Maybe we wait until winter and go for a 3 year guy, but I'd kick the tires, hard, this deadline. I'm not sure what team can offer more than Anthony, Campbell and a couple mid levels for Skubal.
  21. Yup, down 3-0, already. Time to pounce!
  22. To MIL: Nick Mears To COL: Bradley Blalock & Y Herrera
  23. Would anyone give up ... Anthony & Campbell or Mayer & Teel plus 1-2 from Valdez, Lugo, Paulino, Castro, Jordan or Wikelman for Skubal and Shelby Miller? How about adding Fitts to CWS for Crochet & Fedde?
  24. To NYY: Jazz Chisholm To MIA: Agustin Ramirez (C-prospect) and 2 others.
