  1. No surprise.
  2. I'm in agreement. Plus, Story's defense does not appear to be what it used to be, either.
  3. Don't you know? All players are doomed (or blessed) to repeat their last 81 games, forever and ever.
  4. We have LF covered 5 deep, so yes, 1B or bust.
  5. I've been saying Devers 4th from before Bregman's injury, when we actually had another top hitter to fill the all-important two slot. I still like the idea, but the change will not make much of a difference, and I'm fine with keeping Devers 2nd. Anthony 3rd or 4th works for me, too. Just bring the kid up. We could have a goldmine ready for discovery. Bring on the next GOLD RUSH!
  6. Now, there is an idea. Give Jhostynxon a 1Bman's mitt, today!
  7. The sample size is still small enough, that Story could have one his patented 10 day hot streaks and get to .725 or better. Not saying he will. No evidence exists that suggests he will get hot. I do remember 2022, when he was at .545 after 29 games, then hit 1.144 in 15 games, including a 5 game stretch with 17 rbi, and suddenly he was at .776. He eventually got up to .785, then hit .687 over the last 47 games (to 9/11/22.) The guy looks totally lost with no hope, at all. I'm not sure if Grissom or KC at 3B is a better option, and it looks like KC will be our next 1Bman, for a while, anyway. I do think Mayer should play SS FT, going forward, unless something happens.
  8. It seems, we'll need to have one somewhere. I was just pointing that out.
  9. That's my opinion. I was taking about a certain poster who ranted and raved about 81 games, when it fit his narrative. All those who wanted Devers demoted in the line-up, or worse, are awfully silent, now.
  10. I have not disputed any of this. Again, you mistakenly assign opinions to me that I do not hold. I'd say "strawman" again, but you don't know what the means, either. For the record: I'm for KC at 1B, this year. I thought we should have asked Devers to try a 1Bman's mitt, years ago. I never demanded it or expected Cora & Co. to do it. There is a difference there that you never acknowledge or understand. People have the right to have an opinion that differs from yours over statements (perhaps poorly translated or out of context) Devers made about not playing 1B. My opinion is that if they ask him to, and I never assumed Cora did, he should play there. You can believe my opinion is not that, as you often do, but you are wrong, once again. I'm not sure he'd be a good 1Bman, but I think he could be, and the bar is set so low with Casas, anyway, that being an improvement is not saying much, at all. I'd rather they try to get him to play 1B in the offseason, not now. I'm not crying or whining or obsessed over this, despite what you assume, but as always you choose an alternative reality.
  11. I'm not sure anyone is "happy" with our rotation results, to date. I will say, not everyone thinks what happened recently will always repeat itself going forward. The Sox are 17th in Starter ERA- at 100 and 14th in SIERA. Not great, at all, but not horrible for a team with so many SP'er injuries, and our 2024 ace with an ERA over 8. (They are 7th xFIP at 3.77.) I'd also like to say that Devers is hitting .816 over his last 81 games, but I never hear about that time frame anymore.
  12. I did not call him the assistant GM.
  13. You asked if he was getting "demoted" to a comment that was unrelated and not even hinting at a demotion. Anybody that sides with a player who refuses to do what his manager asks (if that is what is happening, here) does not understand how (successful) teams work.
  14. I'm not "mourning." either- just pointing out that we traded away what little and meager 1B depth we did have. I'm also wondering why we don't try Grandal. Maybe ebcause Toro has hit pretty well in the SSS.
  15. Who plays 3rd? Story, KC, DHam, Romy or... gasp... Grissom? I could see a Mayer SS & Rafaela 2B combo, but not if some stiff plays 3B. I strongly doubt Cora moves Rafaela out of CF.
  16. I'm not sure what this means. Am I the only one?
  17. Jh Garcia is showing just how lucky I can be with prospect rankings! LOL SSS, but he's at 1.143 in AAA. Sandlin went 7 IP, 3H, oER, just 1BB and 8 Ks. Tolle looked good for GRE : 4.1, 5, 1, 2, 5
  18. I've been a big Cora supporter, as I was with Tito, but sometimes a change is needed, even if just "change for change's sake." I'm not saying I'm on the fire Cora bandwagon, yet, but I'm as close as ever, and the wagon is already weighted down with posters and fans.
  19. Zanetello is so far down on my rankings list, I'm not sure why he gets so much attention. He's 36th on SP.com
  20. It's interesting to see the numbers for our pitching staff. .654 OPS Against Pen (4.15 ERA) .738 OPS Against Starters (3.76) I know we can never all agree on anything, but to me these were out top 5 SP'ers going into the season (not counting Sandoval) .567 Crochet 2.04 in 12 GS .920 Houck 8.04 in 9 .702 Buehler 3.95 in 8 ,795 Bello 3.83 in 8 .799 Giolito 5.27 in 5 GS or N/A Crawford Our depth has not done all that badly, except Newcomb's last start or two: .603 Fitts 2.70 in 4 .765 Dobbins 4.21 in 7 ,836 Newcomb in 5 I realize rbis is a stat many do not value all that highly, myself included, but here are the numbers as we just passed the 1/3 mark to the season and approach 40%: 50 Devers (leads leasgue) 35 Bregman 34 Duran 29 Abreu 21 Story, 20 Rafaela, 17 Narvaez, 16 KC, 11 Ref
  21. This pretty much says it all. (I will say, his bat is not worse than our 2B batters have been. He's at .639 and the 2B crew is at .622. Mayer at SS and Rafaela at 2B could be a boost to the offense, as well.)
