  1. Exactly! What a joke this all is. Except, it's not funny.
  2. I wouldn't either, but when you're losing, not drawing fans and one player is set to make a quarter to a third of your entire payroll budget in the coming years, I can see why the thought is there.
  3. The fix is in. Keeping the Yanks in the race generates thousands, if not millions, of dollars in revenue. Look at some of the strike-calling last night. No wonder we only got 4 hits.
  4. Yeah, even the .293 (.313 career) OBP is unappealing. Maybe it is because everyone is slumping and he had an 2nd half OBP of over .350 before last night. Just reaching for straws--like JF seems to be doing.
  5. I'm not going to be a broken record here. You guys know my views on JF.
  6. I am too, but HRam does lead the team in HRs, so there's that to ponder. We have nobody else.
  7. Of course the lack of hitting has hurt us, but it's not "lacking fundamentals" like bone head plays are. Have we made mistakes in our hitting approach? Yes, so in that sense, we have made some mental mistakes with our hitting, and maybe more games can be attributed to that than bonehead running and fielding mistakes, but these blunders are killing me.
  8. I realize Stanton is to be paid $25-32M every year until 2027 and then has a $10M buyout on another $25M option, but the luxury tax hit is just $25M. For a stud like Stanton, $25M is cheap. The M's do NOT need to pay salary or take on salary to trade GS. HE IS NOT A SALARY DUMP PLAYER! He's worth every penny and then some. Somebody will pay it. The issue is "paying it" PLUS giving up several top prospects. One or the other is fine, but both is almost always a no-no. The Sale trade was great, because Sale is making way less than market value.
  9. Too bad nobody on the Sox learned the fundamentals this spring (or ever)- one being how to bunt.
  10. Devers is the only one with any semblance of a 3-6 slot hitter make-up. We used to be able to say Betts did too.
  11. The question is, is Pedey Pedey?
  12. Yes, and our bench gets stronger as well.
  13. We're still making too many dumb mistakes. I don't see us suddenly becoming good at fundamentals. I'm hoping we don't end up losing a series on a bonehead play, but it wouldn't surprise me. Sure, I'd love to have a better offense, but we'd be 10-15 up with just a few less mental blunders and dumb mistakes. I realize every team makes mental mistakes, but we've reached an absurd level. I still really like this team's make-up. To be where we are at without Price, half our pen and an off year from our Cy Young winner shows how much this team can and has overcome. Yeah, the Dodgers, Guardians and Astors look tough on paper as well, but I still like our chances as much as anyone else's.
  14. We added Nunez, Devers and Reed. That's quite a bit. I still like our chances, but nobody ever said it was going to be easy. Many teams have won without a good offense. It's hard for Sox fans to imagine it for us, but it could happen.
  15. It's not going to be easy. We may have to go through CLE, Hou and then LAD. The top 3 odds on faves.
  16. 7/4 LAD 21/14 HOU 11/2 CLE 23/4 BOS 15/2 WSH 17/2 Cubs 14/1 NYY 28/1 AZ 33/1 COL
  17. I was beginning to think the Astros were not as much of a contender as Cleveland. Now, it's close.
  18. Less balls hit there.
  19. ,,.and ran into 2 outs
  20. Damn it to hell! Too many chances. Too many blunders. Broken record.
  21. Okay. Time for Betts to take charge!
  22. Come on Beni!!!!!
  23. Time to put the hurt on these scumbags!
  24. Great catch by HRam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
