  1. Really, the only question is, would it be better for the team to have a hitter or 2 in front of Mookie? Answer ..... YES! Aren't these questions valid? 1) Is getting 40-50 more PAs more important than getting a few more RBI situations? 2) Isn't it nice having a HR hitter in the 1 slot in games were the bottom of the order is coming up in the 9th? 3) As long as Beni, JD and Moreland are still bashing the ball, is Mookie's slightly better power all that much of an upgrade over their power? (His OBP blows them away by more than his power blows them away- especially JD and Moreland's.) Now, that being said, I'd bat Betts 2nd.
  2. I found a metered spot on the street 2 blocks away. I only had to pay $1.80 as the spot became free after 6 pm. The lot next to the spot charged $30. One a half block away was $20. 4-5 blocks away charged $7-10. (You should see me use coupons at the local Kroger.)
  3. Could we have an encore please for all the Swihart fans who have been enraged at Cora for not playing him more often? Take a bow, guys, because your man is now play more regularly and sinking fast with the team's lowest average and of course OPS. One supposes his mission these days is to make us like the other guys for what they have done. Swihart needs more time before judging him so definitively, but yes, Cora and DD know our players better than we do. The other side of the argument is that Leon came to life about the time the calls for Swihart became louder. Vaz had a huge hit last night, but has been flat all year. Trust the scouts and management, until they prove they shouldn't be trusted. IMO, they are far away from that point.
  4. Just got home from the game and watched the replay of beni's HR. We're in the video shot! If anyone cares to go back and look, I'm the to the left of where the ball landed. I'm in the blue shirt to the left- last onein the row in front of the landing spot. There's a guy in red behing me who bumps into a guy holding a beer, and some spilled on my back. You can see me looking back. I'm the bald guy. My wife is to my left (your right) and our two friends are next to her. One is in an orange shirt. Their son was up getting a beer and missed it. Wow! What a game. Our two bottom order guys come through with 2 outs and set it all up for Beni. I'll be upper deck tomorrow night behind 3B. Time to even up the series.
  5. I have a dark blue shirt with Red Sox Baseball lettering. I'm nearly bald. My wife calls me Charlie brown
  6. That HR was 10 feet to the left of me! The guy behind me spilled beer on my back. It was worth it!
  7. I'm a cheapie. I park on the street, usually about 3-5 blocks away. If I get there 2-3 hours early, I can usually find a spot 2-3 blocks away. Parking costs about $15-20, and it's about 2-4 blocks away as well. I'm leaving now. They're having a promo for a free cell phone fan (plug-in) outside the park for early birds. I hope we can turn it around tonight and tomorrow night. GO RED SOX- GO!!!
  8. If this is Sale at his worst, he's still pretty damn good!
  9. If Pedey ever reaches a point where he can play 5-6 days a week, Holt & Nunez will be able to give Devers all the rest he needs. I'm not sure his issue is stamina or endurance. I think pitchers have learned how to get him out, and it's up to him and his coaches to work out a way to adjust. He needs to improve on pitch recognition, but you know, even Papi struggled with flailing at breaking balls in the dirt from time to time.
  10. Did you see some of the cheesy hits the Astros got last night? Bunt hits, infiled nibblers, Stike outs turned into 2 base wild pitches. Sale was fine last night. He could have easily gone 7 IP with 1 to 2 ERs with a tiny bit of luck. You guys crack me up!
  11. Devers hit the ball pretty hard last night... for what that's worth. I worry about his defense, which seems a little better than in April. His bat will be fine, but there will be bumps in the road along the way. I was glad we called him up when we did, but we all know he still had some growing to do, and this tough stretch should have been expected.
  12. Chris Sale is still... Chris Freakin' Sale!
  13. Too many cheesy hits by the stros tonight. Too many solo blasts by us. Tough loss. Gotta win the next 2.
  14. Heard this on the local radio: 3 Sox players (JD, Beni & Betts) have an OPS over 1.300 in high leverage situations this year. Bogey & Holt are over 1.200. Sox are bustin' out tonight! JBJ will lead the way
  15. Velazquez has only 4 IPin the last 14 days (2.25 ERA- but 2.75 WHIP). Maybe something is wrong there. ERod has been our best "trending" starting pitcher in the last 14 days (2.00 ERA in 18 IP/1.22 WHIP) Wright has 0 ERs in 9 IP with a 1.00 WHIP Kimbrel 6.2 IP, Kelly 5.2, Barnes 4.1 and Poyner 1.0 have allowed 1 ER in about 18 IP. Last 28 Days: Pom, Hembree & Porcello all over 6.00 Price, Wright, Kelly, Barnes, Velazquez, Smith & Poyner all under 2.50. Hitting over last 28 days 1.121 Beni 1.105 Leon 1.088 JDM 1.041 Betts .977 Moreland .756 Bogey .710 JBJ .708 Holt .647 Nunez .551 Devers .514 HRam .451 Swihart .374 Vaz .322 Pedey Last 14 days 1.375 Beni 1.155 Leon 1.080 Betts .940 JBJ .929 JD .886 Moreland .564 Swihart .348 Vaz .322 Pedey .063 HRam
  16. I'm not sure I really trust that Nunez is healthy enough to compete all year. He just looks off to me. I really thought we'd DL Nunez when Pedey got back, but DFA'ing HRam was a better idea. I still think Nunez needs a couple weeks off, so maybe if and when Pedey gets to the point where he can play 3 out of 4 days, we can DL Nunez and call Lin or Quiroz up.
  17. It took stones to mount an apology like this.
  18. He's at .600, now. It was at .510 on May 12th and .524 on May 24th. His BA is .199, so he's hitting his weight.
  19. He's going yard twice or 1 HR and 2 doubles.
  20. ...so, maybe stick him with a pitcher we acquired after 2015? There's a lot to choose from. I think Swihart did a good job catching Wright's knuckleball in the minors, so maybe that might be a good match. I seem to remember Vaz had trouble with the knuckle. Anybody know if I'm right on the Wright-Swihart tandem?
  21. JBJ is still hitting the ball hard. Keep it up JBJ!!!
  22. My first game thread start. I'll be at the game in the nose bleed section. I hope my "mojo" gets some of those hard hit balls to fall in the right places and go over the fence. I'll be wearing my David Ortiz jersey to the sea of orange, but there's always a sizeable Sox crowd on hand. GO SOX!
  23. Will do. Thanks for bestowing on me this great honor.
  24. It seems almost choreographed like wrestlemaninia. The gteam destined to lose gets off to a roaring start, a few bad calls changes the momentum, and a few more non calls seals the deal for the annointed winners. The NBA gets the teams it wants into the finals. It's FIXED!
  25. Seemed like our hardest hit balls were for outs, and some of our hits were cheesy. Wright is making a case to start. Pom is running himself out of a slot. I thought Betts was going to start. Then, Pedey backs out at the last minute. Let's smoke 'em tomorrow. I'll be there. Maybe that will help.
