  1. We hit the ball very hard and saw some great defense against us. A little luck and this game was ours.
  2. s***** loss after getting that big inning.
  3. Barnes numbers this year (before tonight) OPS against 2018 .701 Lat & Close .533 High Leverage .544 2 outs & RISP .449 8th inning (best inning) .250 Tie game Career OPS against .715 ,685 Late & Close 2017 OPS against .655 .628 Late & Close (.603 8th inning)
  4. Thanks, Carson Smith. I hope throwing your glove was worth it.
  5. Just caught up. Man, how many 3rd outs did we make that were line outs or great defensive play outs with men on base? When that crap happens, it usually leads to a bad result. Keep the lead!! A win here would be nice.
  6. It happens every year. GMs give up the world for 2 month rentals. Not only is it the wrong thing to do, we couldn't do it, even if we wanated to do it.
  7. OBP vs RHP Career .328 Nunez .328 Holt 2018 .368 Holt .293 Nunez OBP vs LHP Career .353 Holt .289 Nunez 2018 .571 Holt (14 PAs) .219 Nunez
  8. ...do you give Holt 2B vs RH pitching and save Nunez for LH'ers? Both have significant reverse splits for their career and this season. vs RHPs Holt .693 career (.793 in 2018) Nunez .742 career (.700 in '18) vs LHPs Holt .719 career (1.117 in '18) Nunez .688 career (.419 in '18)
  9. Let's not go there....
  10. We have issues vs LHPs. We have nobody to platoon with Moreland. Even Holt hits lefties better.
  11. Here's a list of all DD's trades: Kimbrel> Margot, Asuaje, Allen & Guerra Smith & Elias> Miley & J Aro Aaron Hill> A Wilkerson & W Rijo B Ziegler> L Basabe (the other one) & J Almonte Pomeranz> A Espinoza F Abad> Pat Light Sale> Moncada, Kopech, Basabe & V Diaz Thornburg> T Shaw, M Dubon & J Pennington Josh Tobias> Buchholz Cash for IFA signing bonus> Longhi, I Diaz & S Espinal Nunez> S Anderson & G Santos A Reed> G Bautista, J Callahan & S Nogosek E Filia> R Elias
  12. I'm thinking DD wants to stay under the $40M penalty line, so our trade options could be severely limited to what the pro-rated cost of the player we are acquiring is.
  13. Jacko is right. We are not trading for Machado. We don't have what it takes.
  14. I am loving what I'm seeing from Cora, and no matter how subtle it is, I'm seeing more fire and desire in this team. I'd still like to see Bogey bat second, but that is not meant to be a slam on Cora. It's just my own personal opinion. I'd go... vs RHP 1) Betts RF 2) Bogey SS 3) Beni LF 4) JD DH 5) Moreland 1B 6) Devers 3B 7) (Pedey)Nunez 2B 8) JBJ CF 9) Vaz/Leon C vs LHPs 1) Betts RF 2) (Pedey) Holt 2B 3) Bogey SS 4) JD DH 5) Beni LF 6) Moreland 1B 7) Devers 3B 8) JBJ CF 9) Vaz/LeonC It's hard to make a good line-up vs lefties.
  15. Big win tonight. Nice to see Bogey with the big hit, JBj get an RBI and Devers get on base. Mr. Tingles is making his haters tingle down their spines.
  16. Remember that Bogey was one of our best hitters before going on the DL. if he can return to that form, we'd have a very very solid 4: Betts Beni Bogey JDM
  17. Devers and JBJ both contributed tonight. Let's hope we see more and more in the upcoming days.
  18. The biggest risk is that once you add him to the 40 man roster, there's no going back and then counting the salary against the limit until the contract is over. As of now, the risk is too great.
  19. Players rarely get called up unless there's a need. Just because the need was great does not make it a panic move. Now, had Pablo been hitting well, Devers might still be in the minors.
  20. Without Betts in the line-up, it wasn't a big deal, to me. It had the effect of lengthening the line-up, for what that's worth. Unlike many of the posters I agree with most, I do believe in the "hot hand", and Nunez has been over .300 in his last 14 and 28 days. I'd have made the line-up differently, but I could say that every day with every manager. It doesn't mean I think he was wrong. (Usually) I did call JF criminally negligent for batting Holt in the 1 or 2 slot last year something like 8 times, so I'm not above being micro critical.
  21. No worry there- just cut his ass, if he sucks.
  22. Very well said. I try to avoid criticizing individual in-game decisions made by a manager. Sure, they must make mistakes, but I'm not even sure the ones they make are the ones we notice or call out, or that one's we pretty much all agree were mistakes might not really be ones, but for the hindsight fact that the choice failed. Managers have reasons for doing things that we just don't know about. I'm fine with people debating the choices, but I, personally, prefer to debate managing philosophies in general- like the alternating lefty-righty line-up thing (I'm against it, unless both hitters are equal), where to slot your best batter, how often and when should you rest players, should you ever bench "the hot hand?", and much more.
  23. It is a shame, but I'm not sure it should be called ridiculous. What was said needed to be said, and if people twist it out of proportion, then yes, that is sad, but hopefully those people are giving to other worthy causes, and we're not losing any net charity.
