    If Wright was not ready, I'd have chosen Poyner, but I hope we never have to go that deep, unless it's in a mop-up role as we are up 14-0 in the 7th.

    But the WAR's also suggest maybe Holt should be at 3B instead of Devers. Holt's career UZR/150 at 3B is pretty bad (-9.7). Devers is a little better at -7.2. I can see, if a lefty is pitching, since Holt actually hits lefties slightly better than righties, but I'd start Devers every game in the WS.

    I've never said he was a bad or good role model. I hope he comes back strong next year. I was just responding to a post that said Pedey was somewhat muted by being on the DL.

    JBJ has been my favorite Sox player since before he was even called up. He still is.

    He barely had 2 seasons where he did not win it all. Winning his last year in college at the University of San Francisco was monumental. It's not just about the rings. Julio Lugo has a ring as the starting SS for the Sox. To me, the Celts don't with without Russell. He was a tremendous defensive player. I've played enough basketball in my life to know the great importance or rebounds, and nobody was better than Bill. I'm also convinced he could have and would have scored much more, if needed. I get the Jordan argument. I get the Wilt argument. I even think Magic is under-rated, but to me, and it's just my opinion, Russell in the best ever.

    I'm more worried about the Dodger offense than their pitching. They have a lot of balance despite losing some key hitters to injuries. 2018 OPS .973 Muncy .924 Turner .905 Machado (2 teams) .843 Pederson .830 Freese (2 teams) .820 Puig .818 Kemp .815 Grandal .814 Bellinger .806 Hernandez .775 Taylor .696 Dozier 10 guys over .805 is pretty scary, but we'll still beat these guys.

    Players are often moved to unfamiliar roles in the playoffs, and besides, 2B is not all that unfamiliar to Betts.

    Bill also had a college championship and Olympic Gold in the year before he went pro. He was the best.

    Yes, we used it, but not to the extent that it was being used by other teams over the last few year and by us this year.

    Perhaps the loss of HRam has helped the clubhouse, but who knows? I'm not sure about the loss of Pedey, since he has been in the dugout and clubhouse despite being on the DL. I think the biggest influence was Cora replacing Farrell. The addition of JD was a big plus as well, especially with his on the field contributions. He essentially replaced HRam and Young's PAs. I also think our kids matured a lot, and that may have happened under Farrell as well, but one will never know for sure. I know it is just an opinion, but mine is that Cora was a major difference maker.
