  1. Quite a major shift in such a short time. July 31: + Matz & May 8/11: Ali Sanchez off waiver (reacquired, later) 8/18: Nathaniel Lowe signed 8/21: Promoted Jh Garcia 8/29: Promoted Tolle 9/9: Promoted Early 9/10: to promote Harrison
  2. Agreed, and IFA guys take several more years to shine or drift into the darkness.
  3. Brez also brought in Slaten, Lowe and draft picks we've seen or will see in the bigs, already: Early & Tolle Campbell Montgomery helped get us Crochet, so that was a double get by Brez.
  4. Not only did we go through years and years of few pitchers taken highly, we saw many HS players chosen over college players. The good part about that is that recently the HS and college players are all coming into their own near the same time. Casas HS '18 Yorke HS '20 (traded for Priester> traded for who we are talking about) Mayer HS '21 and E Rod HS '21 (traded for Narvaez) & Dobbins Jr in college Anthony & Romero HS '22 __________________ 2023 College: Teel (traded for Crochet), K Campbell & Early (all MLB in '25) 2024 College:, Tolle, Neely Montgomery (traded for Crochet), Aita and Clarke (JC) 2025: top 18 picks were college: Witherspoon, Phillips, Godbout, Etanson & more It's almost like they planned it this way! 😉
  5. LOL. VMart could play 1B, too, but Napoli did okay, too.
  6. You are correct, but we do get somebody. That somebody, even if at slot might be just as good. Although not likely has highly regarded, once you get this far down, it's sort of a crap shoot. Also, if we did not get the draft pick, maybe we get better prospects.
  7. Early or Clarke seems about the going rate, to me, but I'm not sure I'd say yes. I probably would, but this doesn't rise to a "firing offense," to me.
  8. Yes, and Lowe was a plus.
  9. I hope they can work some magic with Harrison, over the winter. SP'ers under control for 2026: Crochet Bello Tolle Dobbins Sandoval Crawford Fitts Harrison Early Criswell Perales, Uberstine, Drohan, Paez Clarke, Winclowski, Murphy, Mullins & Sandlin (RPers)
  10. We had the dream of Sandoval joining the rotation in August and maybe Crawford, too, at the time of the trade. In hindsight, it looks bad, right now, but this is certainly a TBD trade to grade.
  11. Maybe he made an offer for Kelly, too, but I do agree, we should have done better than M & M. The Rangers gave up Mitch Bratt, Kohl Drake & David Hagaman. Kelly had a 137 ERA+ before the trade. It's been 126 afterwards. We could have used that, for sure.
  12. May was placed on the IL, but who's 40 man roster spot, does Early take? Maybe just DFA May?
  13. There was also Sandoval, who never got a start after being expected back by August. Perales might have started had he not been on the season long IL. Wink might have gotten a start or two had he not been out all year. Criswell got one start, was demoted and then went on the IL. Harrison has been passed over. Sadly, Priester was traded away.
  14. So, Early jumped over Harrison. Early was not even Rule 5 eligible, so this caused a winter roster slot to be used up. That tells us that Harrison's ankle injury is the issue, or they lost all faith in his 2025 worthiness.
  15. I was thinking Suarez at 1B and your favorite, Mayer, at 3B. That still leaves 2B as our thorn.
  16. He expertly "communicated" with the Whist Sox GM, and others.
  17. If we spent it on Alonso, Suarez or Schwarber instead, I'd be okay.
  18. I'd rather have Ref than Yoshida, Grissom, Eaton, Sogard, Sanchez and some pitchers like I Campbell, May, Hicks...
  19. I'm not buying that. I think he sets a firm offering price and won't budge. He got a lot done over the winter, made a huge summer trade. I think he sticks to the idea that overpaying for deadline deals should be avoided and to make most deals in the winter, It's not a bad strategy. I do wish he'd done more at the deadline (like get Joe Ryan or M Keller.) I do not think he should be fired for not doing a deal none of us know what the return was to be.
  20. Sounds best, but someone will offer him 4-5 guaranteed, unless this slump worsens and lengthens.
  21. I get your point and don't disagree. My point is, if we didn't get Phillips and Eyanson, wefd have gotten two other players at likely two different bonus payouts,.
  22. I do agree that Eyanson looks better than anyone else we might have drafted, instead. I get your point about the added money and overslot signings. I'm glad we got both Phillips and Eyanson. I hope the Priester deal pays off for us, at some point. I think the odds that one of the three guys we got (or Eyanson) will give us some plus value is pretty high.
  23. I'm wondering if 4 years is too much. His offense was in decline for a few years before coming to BOS. OPS+ 162 in 2019 134 in '22 122 in '23 117 in '24 (129, now) He turns 32 in March.
