  1. This year, after like 30 games, yes, but why look at only that sample size? When has any 30 game sample size been a good predictor of what is to come? JBJ has been about an average CF hitter, even in his down years. He will likely be there again this year.
  2. Even if Dalbec is not good enough to make the roster, I'd move Devers to 1B. We lose over $13M in 1B cost this winter, so it will be time for the move. I see no improvement after having a little encouragement late last year.
  3. Yes. Holt is okay. I think all are still better choices than wasting a roster slot on Gorkys. If one of our 3 OF'ers goes on the IL, then maybe...
  4. I'm really close to totally advocating making Devers our 1Bman next year.
  5. Yes, and JBJ is not bad on offense, unless you think he will continue like this all year- which he won't.
  6. JD, Moreland, Pearce, Holt, Nunez and Lin all have OF experience.
  7. We'll see. You can't base assumptions on 30 games.
  8. .968 JD ("The Man") .921 Chavis (Nice start!) .900 Moreland (Typical April numbers) .862 Bogey (Steady Bogey) .819 Beni (On the rise) .799 Betts (Coming out of it) .725 Vaz (Keep this up!) .690 Devers (Time to catch on fire) .396 JBJ (up 29 points after last night) .360 Nunez (Just 46 PAs) .333 Pearce (Just 35 PAs) .243 Pedey (21 PAs) .273 Holt (19 PAs)
  9. He's stinking up AAA, right now, with a .548 OPS.
  10. Just ignore the clown. Our pen was easily ranked 10th to 14th last year in just about every traditional or advanced standard. That's above average, at worst. This year is another story, although they have done better than I expected.
  11. At best, yes now, but this team is much better than they've shown, so far. I'm thinking we end up with 96-100 wins.
  12. He probably jumped 100 slots by just going 2 for 5 tonight.
  13. If you want to believe we will keep playing 9-15 ball the rest of the way, go for it. We will go 9-1 or something close to it at least once this year.
  14. My Pedey idea is a non-starter. He'll refuse that trade. I just brought him up as a contract balancing addition. I'd like to have Kennedy, but not his contract. Nunez, Pearce and some cash wouldn't even get near $16M x 2. While .780 is a pretty good OPS for 2B
  15. We had some epic runs last year. All it takes is one to get us back in it or even ahead of the pack. Houston is 14-9, and the Yanks are 13-10. That, alone, keeps us in the race. Last year we had these stretches of greatness: 17 out of 18 after our opening day loss. 15 out of 20 from mid May to early June. 6 out of 7 at the end of June. 10 in a row and and 13 of 14 to start July. 17 of 20 from mid July to early August. 6 out of 7 in mid September. We could pass the Yanks and Astros with just a couple 6 of 7 runs shortly.
  16. If KC threw in enough money to keep us under the max line, I might agree.
  17. It's not about wanting Pedey. It's about balancing the money, and I think Devers is better than WM.
  18. He's at 0.1 (113th). I guess I missed him. It's early. Small sample sizes. WAR is not very good for RP'ers.
  19. No, but he offsets Kennedy's contract to some extent. He would veto the deal.
  20. Small sample sizes, but... Contract & WAR, so far $39M/3 Britton 0.3 (39th in MLB) $30M/3 Familia $27M/3 Ottavino $25M/2 AMiller $23M/2 Robertson $25M/3 Kelly $18M/2 Herrera 0.3 (24th) $15M/2 Soria 0.2 (62nd) $10M/2 JWilson $8.5M/1 CAllen If no WAR is listed, they are not at 0.0 or better or in the top 250 RP'ers in MLB. The Sox currently have 7 RP'ers at 0.1 or better and Brasier at 0.0.
  21. No way would I trade Devers for WM, let alone add a prospect. Devers & Pedroia for WM & Ian Kennedy... maybe
  22. I'm just a tiny bit concerned on April 24, 2019. If we're still 5-10 back of the WC by the end of May, I'll be somewhat concerned. It's a long season!
  23. Many of the RP'ers discussed as possible signees have sucked so far this year.
  24. I'd be all for moving Bogey to 3B or 2B, but didn't want to open a can of worms until we know Chatham can play at the ML level.
