  1. True. Let's hope he turns things around.
  2. Yes, but to me .650 is sustainable due to his defense. .600 is close. .550 is probably not. Under .500 is benching territory.
  3. Well said. Maybe someday Devers moves to 1B, but that decision should be put off, at least until JD moves on from the DH slot.
  4. I'm never going to get past this... lol
  5. Kinda like kelly without the $25M price tag.
  6. Depending on Holt's health, I think he has the best chance of returning out of Nunez, Holt, Moreland & Pearce. We may try giving JD a first baseman's mitt for added depth, in case Chavis or Dalbec flame out..
  7. Agreed, and I didn't mean to imply Dalbec is my first choice at 3B, I was just posing the question to the poster who suggested Devers play 1B and Chavis DH.
  8. I agree, but I was making my point on the assumption that he remains around .450 into June or July. If it's July, a change will be made....even if just for a few weeks.
  9. He has not hit .550 for four years- or even .650.
  10. He was 94 to 94.5 and even 95+ on several of his earlier starts... https://www.fangraphs.com/graphs.aspx?playerid=10603&position=P&pitchgraphs=true&statArr=&legend=1&split=base&time=daily&start=2017&end=2019&rtype=mult&gt1=15&dStatArray=FA&ymin=&ymax= .
  11. I will admit, I was a tiny bit concerned, but he passed the physical and said he was fine. The guy barely pitched since he went out with the injury last year, including little work this spring. I like how things are lining up, and Cora's resting plan this spring may prove to be genius.
  12. I'm JBJ's biggest fan, but his great defense is not unique in MLB, and it does not support an OPS under .550 let alone .450. He will have to improve offensively to keep playing.
  13. 22 Ks and no BBs for our staff last night! K/9 10.25 WSH 9.99 BOS 9.97 CLE 9.77 TBR (We are 14th in BB/9 at 3.46 and 7th in K/BB at 2.89.)
  14. LOL! The guy who kept pointing to CERA to prove his point now is boxed in by that same stat. For one, you can't just look at team CERA without looking at the context- which catcher catches more of which pitchers, but since it was his stat of choice, here are the updated numbers: 3.82 Leon 4.35 Vaz 6.17 Swihart (Did people really expect Swihart's bat to make up that differential? I know, given a full season of sample sizes, the margin would not be that wide, but how narrow did it have to be to make choosing Swihart over Leon worth it?) Here's a better way to look at the numbers: PAs with each catcher and OPS against Porcello 100 w Leon .644 42 with Vaz 1.061 26 with Swihart .818 Sale 97 with Leon .616 88 with Vaz .873 0 with Swihart (Note: Leon has not has more than 20 PAs with any other pitchers.) Vaz vs Swihart with Eovaldi 49 with Vaz .831 44 with Swihart .975 with ERod 139 with Vaz .729 24 with Swihart 1.077 with Velazquez 26 with Swihart .423 64 with Vaz .829 with Walden 53 with Vaz .385 23 with Swihart .769 with Price 142 with Vaz .705 o with Leon or Swihart Only Velazquez did better with Swihart, but the sample size was small.
  15. Don't ask me why, but it happened... (mostly on game threads)
  16. It's looked great since the moment the ink dried.
  17. We may see Chatham at 2B.
  18. Dalbec had a 2B and single with that tater...
  19. Feltman with the rare 4 BBs and 0 ERs in 1 IP. D Reyes finally pitches well (7 IP 5 H 0 BB 6 K) (Pedey went 1 for 3)
  20. Awesome! I'm going to the games down here in Houston in a couple weeks. I'll try to get to Fenway this summer.
  21. Maybe you were only looking at ERA.... The second half of 2015 (only 19 IP) 1.89 ERA/ 1.263 WHIP[ 2016: 2.65 ERA.1.333
  22. The last 3 months of last year plus the playoffs isn't a "reason?" The fact that he's had ice cold, prolonged slumps before bouncing back many times in his career is not a "reason?" We don't want JD playing everyday in the OF alone is a "reason." Look, I'm fed up with this horrid streak by JBJ. I'd bench him for a while, but I would not give up on his bat for good.
  23. Nuney is gone after this year. Holt (also a FA) or Dalbec has the best chances.
  24. He's been over 1.30 every year with the Sox, except this year.
