  1. Hembree is not great, but out pen is a question mark. I'd hold all our pen pieces in hopes that 6-7 work out. I would like to get rid of at least one out-of-options player (Swihart, Hembree, Johnson), if we can get a nice return.
  2. Nunez played hurt all year. He may be habbled again this year, but he's better than he played in 2018. If we could trade him and free up $3-5M, I'd do it. I like Lin and am optimistic on Pedey. Plus, we have Chavis and Dalbec for corner IF depth.
  3. OK. Just a "sore shoulder" for Sev, but Sale is all but burnt toast.
  4. So the heart and other health issues are all okay? I guess this article is all BS, then... CC Sabathia After symptoms made clear that he was having trouble with his heart, Sabathia had surgery to clear his arteries, and had to have a stent put in. Luckily, they caught the heart problem in time, and he’s been cleared to pitch. The procedure set back his workout routine though. Sabathia has yet to throw his first bullpen session, and Aaron Boone doesn’t expect him to throw one for a few more weeks. They plan to move him along slowly during spring training.
  5. Looks pretty crappy to me.
  6. Plus, Sanchez had shoulder surgery in November, Montgmery still has a long rehab in front of him, and now Hicks has a stiff back. Here's a headline I just read... Yankees shut Luis Severino down with rotator cuff tendinitis https://www.pinstripealley.com/2019/3/5/18251894/yankees-injury-luis-severino-spring-training-shoulder
  7. Why wouldn't he be on a throwing program by himself or with a personal trainer? Plus, they won't need their 5th starter until the 6th day of the season.
  8. I thought it was his health issues, but I could be wrong.
  9. Ellsbury on the DL is a plus for the Yanks.
  10. Word is the Yanks are looking at Gio.
  11. So, Severino & CC start out on the DL. Didi is out for months and may never be the same. They knight in shiny armor, Paxton, never plays a full season. Yet, we are the ones who need to fear injuries.
  12. One could argue it was perfect storms that we traded Espinoza and Kopech before they needed TJ surgery.
  13. MLBTRs...Top Free Agents of next Winter https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/03/2019-20-mlb-free-agent-power-rankings.html 1. Bogey 2. Sale 3. G Cole 4. Rendon 5. Goldschmidt 6. Wheeler 7. JD Martinez 8. Gregorius 9. Verlander 10. Bumgarner We have the top 2 and 3 of the top 7. Too bad there are no more comp picks given away!
  14. He gives us quality innings and lots of innings. He will be missed. If we reset, we won't be replacing Porcello's $20M with someone esle at $20M. We will be replacing him with DHernandez, BJohnson or HVelazquez.
  15. ...and Jacko was all in our face about Sale's health!
  16. Yes, I know it might be more than a year or two, but if we reset the tax, and Henry is willing to allow us to go back to near the $40M over line, I can't see why we shouldn't be able to retool after 1-2 years. We'll still have a base of Devers, Beni & ERod, plus one or two of the vest we decide to keep (Betts & Sale?).
  17. ...and rumors that contract prices will start falling might be wrong.
  18. Segura seems to have peaked early (2-3 years ago) while Bogey seems to be improving. Or not.
  19. Of course, I'd rather have the team you mention, but I think resetting and being worse for one year will payoff much more later. I am 100% serious. I think a rebuild year or two is needed.
  20. Porcello has been our horse. Bogey was a huge reason we won last year. JBJ, too. Pearce and Moreland combined will likely out perform Chavis and Dalbec's rookie years. I love DHernandez, but I'm not counting on him, as a rookie, to come close to what Porcello has given us. Chatham has a lot to prove. We also lose Holt with Nunez with nobody but Lin in sight. Pedey will be 1-2 years older then.
  21. I said "highly competitive". You don't think losing Porcello, Bogey, JBJ, Moreland/Pearce makes much of a difference? You are dreaming, sir.
  22. A lot depends on how well he does the next two years and what the salary trend is doing.
  23. Some recent summer deals don't seem like we had to give up too much... 2018 Jalen Beeks for Eovaldi Santiago Espinal for Steve Pearce 2017 GBautista, JCallhan & SNogosek for Addison Reed SAnderson & GSantos for Eduardo Nunez I'm not sure we'll have to trade Chavis, Dalbec or any or out top prospects to get what we need this summer. With Pearce and Moreland's contracts expiring after this year, and JD's opt out coming up, we may need both Chavis and Dalbec, at least until we learn more about Casas and Chatham.
  24. I'm wondering why it took so long for this "workout" to occur. Was he still rehabbing his injury? Are they just trying to minimize the chances of an early aggravation of the injury?
