We will reset. We will keep those who will not bring back much in return or who may be worth something when the reset is over. As much as you wish we suck for 3-5 more years, it's entirely possible we'll be back in the race in 1-3 years. Sale, Price and or Eovaldi might be part of that championship season.

No matter what, JD is opting out after 2020. I can't see us keeping him - Betts or no Betts.

We can easily reset without JD and JBJ. We can even sign a couple cheap FAs. My point is that if we trade Betts, we'll have little chance at winning in 2020, so why not just trade JD, too. He'll opt out after 2020 anyways.

It is 26, and since we went with 13 pitchers all year, something I'm not sure we've ever done before, I'm thinking we may stay at 13 next year and add an everyday player to the mix. If we dump JD, Betts and JBJ, or two of these three, we may need some deeper bench or platoon-type players to fill those mighty shoes. I doubt we totally tank on 2020, but getting a nice draft pick might not be the worst thing that ever happened to the Sox in the past 15 years.

I'm expecting 3.50- tops. I can see Sale at sub 2.80, Price at sub 3.60 and ERod at sub 3.70, if healthy, and if you're saying 500-600 IP, that pretty much means they are. It's the IP that is the big wild card.

I'm beginning to think this might be the best case scenario: We trade or non tender JBJ. JD does not opt out. We trade JD (maybe with a little cash) for a decent young player with several years of team control (SP/RP/2B/defensive CF'er?) Trade Workman & Wright (FA after 2020) We trade Betts for several prospects, one that is very near ML ready (SP, 2B, CF?). By then, our farm should be top 12 to 18. We easily reset the tax and play a bunch of kids next year to get an idea of what we got. If Price or Sale need surgery, get it over with this winter. Winter 2020-2021, we re-sign Betts and fill in other holes we might have with lower cost FAs on shorter term deals. I couldn't agree more. BTW, those uniforms he cut up were clown suits. He had the balls to expose them for what they were. Couple that with what was going on at that time, it's totally understandable what he did, whether you agree or not. The guy is a fierce competitor, and for people to be righting him off so quickly and slamming the contract extension before it has even kicked in are likely to be eating crow.

IP last 3 years: 214, 158, 147 Sale 75, 176, 107 Price 00, 111, 68 Eovaldi 137, 130, 203 ERod The top 3 on the list pitched 312 IP, last year. They could pitch less or about the same, but I'm guessing they go over 400 IP. A healthy Eovaldi would almost assure it.

I am opposed to that of course but I am confused by so many who have such a great concern for how that guy spends his money. I'm not sure some of us are concerned in the way you think we are. I rarely "take the owner's side" or defend corporate America. I think they got richer while the rest of us stayed even at best due to getting out of paying their fair share in taxes, but the way I approach the Sox and their budget is based on what I think Henry wants and is going to do. It doesn't mean I agree with him or love the guy. If it was up to me, he'd use some of the profits not to hire more FAs, but to lower prices, so the average Joe can afford to go see a game again. I'm concerned over our spending, because I know there is not a limitless budget.
