  1. True, but rushing it might be worse.
  2. Manny: not with the Sox. Papi: some doubt involved and never suspended. Even if you count these two, the scoreboard is something like Yankees 23 Boston 2. Keep pretending we're even.
  3. Fine, but you only and always focus on just Ben, when Theo (post Lester), Ben and DD have all been about equal in their 4 year samples the last 12 years.
  4. I didn't think he would, and I think he won't make what he will in 2020, but maybe he wants a longer term deal. It sounds like he's seriously thinking about opting out. Too bad we get nothing for him.
  5. Just bring me rings, baby. I'm okay with a few bust years, if I know we are building up for the next ring in the not-so-distant future.
  6. Yes, DD in 2017. Dubon, Asuaje, Martin & Speier=/> Houck, Brannen, Thompson & Netzer
  7. They made the mistake of drinking from the Yankee clubhouse water fountain.
  8. Ben drafted Buttrey. Kopech, Allen and signed IFAs G Bautista, J Almonte, D Hernandez, J Diaz, A Espinoza, D Reyes & E Bazardo. While it's not a great list, Ben was the GM for as long as DD, and this list beats his (so far).
  9. I liked them all, and I'd agree with your placements.
  10. Then, we should have traded him at this past deadline. Thanks, DD. (CP, I'm just kidding!)
  11. True 'nuff. Plus, bigger is not always better.
  12. Keeping JD will basically mean we have just about no budget space at all- even without JBJ.
  13. Okay, for one, I didn't think you meant keeping all the guys listed as signed. I thought you meant trade (or offer up) every one but Devers. Secondly, we have a ton of players with 3 arbs left or pre-arb, so I thought you meant them, too.
  14. Certainly, in terms of how they left their state of affairs for the next GM.
  15. MLBTRs... Andrew Benintendi put on some weight last winter in an attempt to add more power to his game, though in the wake of a down year, the Red Sox outfielder tells WEEI.com’s Rob Bradford that the new goal is “to get lighter and more athletic this offseason.” Many tabbed Benintendi to break out into superstardom in the wake of his impressive 2018 season, though he ended up hitting only .266/.343/.431 over 615 PA in 2019. Some nagging injuries played a role, though Benintendi’s added bulk didn’t translate into more power, as he posted a lower slugging percentage and fewer homers (13) than in 2018. Benintendi is hoping that better health and a more back to his old speed-based game will result in a better 2020 season.
  16. I think we trade JD & JBJ and see where we are at the deadline.
  17. LOL. I could see keeping Devers, Bogey, D Hern and seeing what's offered for the others.
  18. Also, D Hernandez. Despite the poor draft that year was better than any DD farm building year.
  19. Yes, that must be it.
  20. It was about as close as you can come to a complete whiff, but if all you want to do is focus on one draft to try and make some round about false equivalency to DD's farm building skills, then to each his own. Ben made many bad mistakes. Too many to keep his job. That draft was one of the bad things he did. Other than the IFA penalty thing, that's about the only bad thing he did with farm-building. Overall, Ben did a hell of a job building the farm to the point where DD was able to trade almost two dozen of them for Sale, Kimbrel, Pom, Thornburg, Addison Reed, Nunez, Ziegler, Aaron Hill, Kinsler, Eovaldi and Pearce.
  21. IFA Signings: Ben J Guerra (part of Kimbrel trade) J Almonte (part of Brad Ziegler trade) W Rijo (part of Aaron Hill trade) L Basabe I (part of Sale trade) L Basabe II (other part of B Ziegler trade) G Bautista (part of Addison Reed trade) R Devers J Diaz & Y Abar D Hernandez Y Moncada (tarded for Sale) A Espinoza (traded for Pom) C Acosta D Reyes E Bazardo R Castillo DD H Velazquez (during restricted signing year due to Ben's blunder) D Flores (RIP) A Flores D Diaz B Bello E Lopez Best or Notable Draft Picks (Pick#) 7 Benintendi 7 T Ball 24 Marrero 26 Chavis 31 Johnson 33 Kopech (part of Sale trade) 37 Light (traded for Abad) 45 Stanki 67 Travis 81 A Rei 81 Denny 87 Callahan (part of trade for A Reed) 103 J Cosart 111 T Matheny 118 Maddox 143 Littrell 151 Buttrey (traded for Kinsler) 164 Ockimey 171 Lakins 201 Ben Taylor 231 L Allen (part of Kimbrel trade) 263 Kyle Martin 314 C Sturgeon 323 C Asuage 404 C Shepherd 411 Poyner 501 C De la Guerra 773 M Dubon (traded for Thornburg) DD 12 Groome 24 Houck 26 Casas 43 C Cannon 51 Chatham 63 Brannen 64 Decker 69 M Lugo 88 Anderson (part of Nunez trade) 100 Feltman 101 Netzer 107 R Zeferjahn 118 Dalbec 137 N Song 148 Shawaryn 160 TWard 161 Scherff 178 Nogosek (part of A Reed trade) 190 D Granberg 197 C Murphy 220 J Duran 358 M Gorst
  22. Actually, it was not an entire "whiff," and so what, if it was? He did much better than DD on drafting and IFA signings. Where's the "Thanks DD?"
  23. Are you thankful for the 2017 draft? How about the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 international free agent signings? Where's the "Thanks DD?"
