  1. If we spend close to $60M, this winter, we should be a playoff contender at best and a .500 team at worst.
  2. Fair enough. Once we traded Betts and knew Sale was toast, the cliff arrived early.

  4. Or we just pay the $cash.
  5. We might be $60M away from being not far away.
  6. Soxprospects.com top 20 prospects acquired by Bloom: 2. Jeter Downs (Betts trade) 11. Jeisson Rosario (Moreland trade) 12. Connor Seabold (Workman/Hembree trade) 13. Nick Yorke (drafted) 15. Hudson Potts (Moreland trade) 16. Blaza Jordan (drafted) 19. Connor Wong (Betts trade) 20. Jacob Wallace (Pillar trade) 30. Deivy Grullon (off waivers from Philly) N/R Jeremy Wu-Yelland (drafted) N/R Adenys Bautista (Leon trade) Significant Non Prospects acquired: Verdugo (Betts) Perez (FA signing) Pivetta (Workman/Hembree) Plawecki (FA signing) Munoz (minor league FA) Valdez (waivers from SEA) Puello (minor league FA) Mazza (Waivers from NYM) Peraza (FA signing) Pereda (Travis Lakins trade) Arauz (Rule 5) M Hall (Jhon Nunez trade) J Springs (Sam Travis trade) Moreland (traded away) Pillar (traded away) Osich (traded away)
  7. We got Jacob Wallace for Pillar. Soxprospects.com has him ranked 20th. I think we are still owed a PTBL or cash from Philly for the Workman/Hembree trade. Did we ever get a PTBNL from the Cubs for Osich? I think not.
  8. You forgot Beni. Here's how I would put it: 26 Man Roster Starters: Eovaldi Perez Pivetta Mazza> E-Rod (maybe available in May/June- Mazza to pen as long relief-Covey to AAA) Houck>Sale (maybe in June/July- Houck to pen to limit IP-Walden to AAA) (Mata/Seabold may join in late summer) Relievers: Barnes (closer) DHern Taylor Brasier Valdez Covey Walden Catchers: Vazquez Plawecki Infielders Devers Bogaerts Arroyo Dalbec Outfielders: Beni JBJ (re-signed- although I doubt he is.) (Wilson/Puello?) Verdugo DH: JDM Other Utility: Munoz (Downs may join in late summer) Chavis (Ockimey is a long shot) Puello (Duran may replace him by July/Aug)
  9. If he pitches well next year, his deadline value may be higher than it is now. "May." I'm not against trading him, this winter, but as bad as he looked, this year and last, his numbers beat just about everyone else in the pen. Barnes, DHern, Valdez and Taylor seem like the best in-system bets to be helpful, next year.
  10. Devers showed signs of vast improvement on defense, last year. They may feel he deserves a longer look. He's still younger than Dalbec. I'd be fine with shifting him to 1B and giving Dalbec a shot at 3B- maybe sign Turner to a 1-2 year deal. Devers at DH should not be considered for a few years.
  11. Seems like a perfect fit. It would possibly allow us to not have to fill 2 other slots (2B, 1B and 4th OF'er). My guess is, we'll sign a CF'er, 4th OF'er and a guy like Miller (2B/1B) or we could sign a 2Bman and a 1B/OF type (like Miller).
  12. Agreed. Maybe Covey is second.
  13. I'm not sure trading Barnes, this winter, while his stock is low, makes sense. He may be a summer 2021 trade candidate. I can see us looking to deal Vaz, Beni & Chavis and non tendering a lot of players (Brice, Covey, Godley, Springs, Triggs, Hall, Kickham, Stock and Lin).
  14. None of these guys would get big arb raises, but they can easily be replaced with min wage players, saving us a few hundreds of thousands on the budget.
  15. Good to know. This will be our highest pick since the mid 60's.
  16. I thought is was overly optimistic saying we had an equal chance at finishing 81-81 (50% winning %) as 62-100 (38% winning%). We finished with a 40% winning %.
  17. Yes, Lin is out of options, but he is pre-arb, so they may keep him as a min wager on the 26 man opening day roster.
  18. We bounced back at the end and avoided having one of the worst 9 Sox winning percentages of all time. .279 1932 .301 1926 .309 1925 .331 1927 .338 1930 .373 1928 .377 1929 (The worst 7 seasons were within 8 years 1925-1932 and the 1931 season was 12th worst at .408!) .383 1965 (makes the 1967 season all the more magical) .396 1922 .400 2020 .401 1923 .408 1931 .422 1960 .423 1933 .426 2012 .435 1924 .438 2014 .444 1964 .444 1966
  19. Does anybody know, if we will have the 4th pick, or are they adjusting the order?
  20. Here are the arbs for 2021 (2020 salary): ERod ($8.3M) 4 of 4 Barnes ($3M) 3 of 3 Peraza ($2.9M) 3 of 4 (non tendered?) Godley (min) 2 of 3 Plawecki ($900K) 3 of 4 Covey ($692K) 1 of 3 Devers (Min) 1 of 3 Pivetta (Min) 1 of 3 Brasier (Min) 1 of 3 Brice (Min) 1 of 3 (Non tendered?)
