  1. 1. Kolten Wong 2B (.358 OBP last 2 seasons combined) 2. Verdugo RF 3. Bogaerts SS 4. Devers 3B 5. JD DH 6. Beni/Renfroe LF 7. Dalbec/Moreland 1B 8. Vazquez C 9. Hernandez CF Odorizzi, ERod, Eovaldi, Richards, Perez/Sale Colome, Ottavino, Barnes, Brasier, DHern, Taylor, Houck, Pivetta
  2. I kinda saw the value in pushing the tax re-set back one more year, but I'm starting to see a team with a chance, if we just add 3 players- none of which are big risk or more than 3 years in length. Just sign Ordorizzi to 3 years, Colome to 2 or 3 years and K Wong or Schoop to 1-3 years. That could be less than $28M and maybe even have enough for Moreland, too. With 3-4 roster additions, we could even trade Chavis and maybe a couple other players for some non 40 man roster prospects. Draft well and get competitive while the farm improves. With Odorizzi, Kolten Wong, Colome and Moreland or Marisnick, I think we'd be favored to make the playoffs. Better, yet, making the playoffs would drive jacko nutty!
  3. If we sign Odorizzi and go over, we might as well sign Colome and a 2Bman (Wong or Schoop), too. If Sale ends up returning to norm, and with all the contracts running out after 2021, many at or near dead weight, we may be able to re-set in 2022 or 2023 while staying competitive.
  4. Would this team be a legit 2021 contender? C Vaz, Plawecki 1B Dalbec, Chavis 2B K Wong, Arroyo 3B Devers SS Bogey LF Beni-Renfroe CF Hernandez RF Verdugo DH JD Odorizzi, ERod, Eovaldi, Richards, Perez, Pivetta (Sale) Colome, Ottavino, Barnes, Brasier, DHern, Houck, Taylor, Whitlock/Andriese
  5. (You forgot DH: JD Martinez) These two signings might do the trick, too: C Vaz, Plawecki 1B Dalbec, Chavis 2B Schoop, Arroyo 3B Devers SS Bogey LF Beni-Renfroe CF Hernandez RF Verdugo DH JD ERod, Eovaldi, Richards, Perez, Pivetta Colome, Ottavino, Barnes, Brasier, DHern, Houck, Taylor, Whitlock/Andriese
  6. Cards re-sign Wainwright to $5M with $3M in incentives.
  7. One reason I want Brice out is that he has no options.
  8. So, if Moreland gets $2M, getting Schoop for $5-6M might be just $3-4M more. If we are trying to stay under the line, the difference is significant.
  9. Not bad. I'm no big Chavis fan, but I think he deserves one more extended look, so why not give him the inside edge at 2B? If he sputters, give Arroyo another look. If he sputters, and Munoz is doing well in AAA, then maybe add him to the roster and roll the dice again. If we go oh for 3, then we look for a 2Bman or CF'er at that point. Depending on what Moreland and Schoop cost, I'd prefer Schoop, and keep Chavis as the back up 1Bman.
  10. soxprospects doesn't have Hernandez or Richards listed among the 40 names.
  11. It's easy to find a platoon for him at min cost. Even Chavis, who hits RHPs (.740) better than LHPs (.699) could fill that role. I do like the idea of a Beni-Renfroe LF platoon, but our CF need outweighs that plus. We could just sign Schoop and have the best of both worlds, but the Beni-Frazier trade does not add to the budget as signing Schoop would. (I'm not sure signing Moreland to cover for a Dalbec implosion would be a good fit for a LF platoon with Renfroe.)
  12. How about 2 years of Beni for 2 years of Adam Frazier (2B)- making slightly less than Beni? (PIT can flip Beni to someone else to save money.) Hernandez plays CF, Renfroe LF and Verdugo RF.
  13. I wouldn't mind either but would prefer Moreland, however, 1B is pretty far down on my positional need wish list. I'm leaning towards signing a 2Bman over a CF'er now, as I have convinced myself that Hernandez is better defensively in CF than 2B. That is priority #2 or #3 to adding another pitcher or two or three or ... 1B is like 5th on my list- tops.
  14. Does that affect the lux tax number? Cots has it at $7M both years on their tax table.
  15. La Stella gets $19M/3 with SFG. Many had him higher than Enrique.
  16. If the Mets are still looking to cut salary to afford Bauer, would they do this deal? Familia & Crow-Armstrong for Beni
  17. That was an old trade. I meant to pull the 3 way with STL, where they get Vaz & Beni and we get Bader and Stallings.
  18. I was saying that those were the only two non top prospects anyone seemed to "shed a tear" over. Dubon has earned his way into a FT role, now. He started 46 games, last year (33 in CF).
  19. Would TB accept this trade offer? (accepted on BTV) Beni & Pivetta for Kiermaier & Yarbrough How about one of these? Chavis & A Ramirez for Adam Frazier (2B) Groome, Murphy, Arauz & Zeferjahn for Frazier & Brault Beni, Groome & Pivetta for Patrick Sandoval-P (liked to disliked 8-4) Beni & Pivetta for Cal Quantrill-P (6-6) This one was liked 16 to disliked 5: Beni to ATL for Inciarte (CF) +$4M and Kyle Wright (SP) I like this 3-way: to BOS: Bader (OF), Stallings ©, Frazier (2B) & Brault (P) to PHI: Vaz, Beni & Duran to PIT: Herrera & Arauz
  20. Due to so many 1 year deals and option years. the Sox have the ability to free up a ton of "budget space," next winter: (Lux Tax Dollars) $13.8M Pedey $10M Richards (+ option year) $8.9M Ottavino $8.3M ERod $5M Perez (+ option year) $4.5M Barnes $4.5M Vaz (+ option year) $1.9M Andriese (+ option year) After 2022: (see option years above) $22M JD $20M Bogey (if he opts out) $17M Eovaldi $7M E Hernandez $6M Beni $2M Plawecki
  21. Two years of control is way more than the two months teams get with deadline trades and twice as much as many winter deals for 1 year-controlled pitchers. Other recent trades of good pitchers seems to be showing less returns than a few years ago.
  22. Thanks. I forgot. I'm kinda glad we didn't go there, so maybe my argument is losing steam.
  23. Agreed, and not many Sox fans who value prospects got all moist over losing the Basabes and Beeks of the system, although one could argue Logan Allen and Dubon kinda fit that bill. Moncada Kopech Margot Espinoza Not many were for trying to keep everyone of our top prospects, either. It was the fact that we traded away all the best, except Devers.
  24. Realistic, at this point? Lux line an issue: Schoop and/or Colome (maybe have to trade some salary to make it work?) Lux tax a minor concern: Miller/Schoop, Porcello AND Colome. Lux tax not a big concern: Odorizzi, Colome and/or Wong.
  25. Maybe the trend is that good pitchers don't bring back top prospects, anymore. Maybe, I'm behind the times. (It wouldn't be the first time I discovered that about myself.)
