  1. I don't disagree, but we beat then 4-1 and could easily have won the game we lost. I know momentum can change on a dime, but that 2018 team did face a few times, where doubt could have crept in, like when Sale went down with an injury, and they always slapped it away with a mighty show of force and dominance. I've never seen a team like that, at least a Sox team. There are times, like 2013, where even though the team was not all that great on paper, you just know nothing will stop them.
  2. The thing about that deal that really exposed just how weak the Yankee depth is, is the fact that he has been placed in the following batting slots in 124 PAs, this year: PAs by slot 38 in 6th slot 26 in 9th 16 in 4th 12 in 2nd, 5th and 7th 5 in 3rd 3 n 8th That's 83 of 124 in the 2 through 6 slots! And, no way should he have been needed for 124 PAs since the addition.
  3. Must be because I'm biased and he is not. LOL.
  4. I also find it hard to think someone can be a "fan" and have so much hatred against over half the players on the team. I understand the frustration and the bandwagon knee scraping many fans show on these forums, but this guy just plain hates on players that are part of the team he says he loves. Then, after one big hit, he's back to loving them until their next AB. It's maddening, to me at nearly any level, but he takes it to an extreme.
  5. No doubt. I was just stating my opinion that I felt we were so freaking great in 2018, we probably would have won it all, without any single player. Eovaldi and Price are at the top of the list as foils to my opinion, and we'll never know all the "what ifs?" Yes, anything can happen, including a 3rs, 4th, 5th or 6th starter doing well, instead of Price or Eovaldi. Maybe they bomb and set the wrong tone, and we fall apart. I don't think that team had "fall apart" in their vocabulary, but yes, anything can happen. (This from someone who does not believe the playoffs are a total crap shoot.)
  6. $4M can get one good player making about $12M annually, or more if you can get the team to kick n some cash, too. Maybe you can trade a dead contract and a prospect, like the Ottavino trade, to free up some more cap space, then add a higher priced player or two. I don't see Cashman making the right moves, though, unless it's the blind squirrel analogy.
  7. I was thinking, "Alexa, play LA Woman." Well, I just got into town about an hour ago Took a look around, see which way the wind blow Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows Are you a lucky little lady in the city of light Or just another lost angel, city of night City of night, city of night, city of night, woo, come on L.A. woman, L.A. woman L.A. woman Sunday afternoon L.A. woman Sunday afternoon L.A. woman Sunday afternoon Drive through your suburbs Into your blues, into your blues, yeah Into your blue-blue blues Into your blues, oh, yeah I see your hair is burnin' Hills are filled with fire If they say I never loved you You know they are a liar Drivin' down your freeways Midnight alleys roam Cops in cars, the topless bars Never saw a woman So alone, so alone So alone, so alone Motel money murder madness Let's change the mood from glad to sadness Mister mojo risin', mister mojo risin' Mister mojo risin', mister mojo risin' Got to keep on risin' Mister mojo risin', mister mojo risin' Mojo risin', gotta mojo risin' Mister mojo risin', gotta keep on risin' Risin', risin' Gone risin', risin' I'm gone risin', risin' I gotta risin', risin' Well, risin', risin' I gotta, wooo, yeah, risin' Woah, ohh yeah Well, I just got into town about an hour ago Took a look around, see which way the wind blow Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows Are you a lucky little lady in the city of light Or just another lost angel, city of night City of night, city of night, city of night, whoa, come on L.A. woman, L.A. woman L.A. woman, you're my woman Little L.A. woman, little L.A. woman L.A. 8. You're right. I do that way too much.
  9. It's not a bad thing being biased against smug elitism. Sleep tight.
  10. This will be a tough game to win, but the team is pulling together, nicely. Some players who have been struggling or on the IL are now coming to life. The pen seems to have settled down after a bumpy stretch. Let's keep the mojo rising! Go Sox!
  11. Better than Chavis, Duran and Casas... 1.248 4 HRs in 9 games
  12. You have never said "I am wrong." Maybe I missed the one time, but I doubt it. Calling what you said about Pivetta some sort of admission of being wrong or an "apology" is a joke. BTW, I never said anything about an apology. I also didn't think I needed to say I don't like you, but if you feel the need for my stamp of disapproval, I'll oblige. I dislike you and your smug self righteousness and aggrandizement. One thumb down.
  13. See. You agreed with me and were right.
  14. Maybe 4 for 7, if you count Marwin and Andriese.
  15. It's the way of the world, these days. (I'm not claiming I never do it, too.)
  16. That's how you admit a mistake? No mention that you thought he'd suck or any opinions you shared about him- just a comment on how he looks to be doing good, now. You crack me up. Try this as an real example of admitting I was wrong: "I thought we should have signed Odorizzi. He sucks. I was horribly wrong." There. Was that something you can't ever do?
  17. Agreed. It's not like I think Chavis is going to rake, but Bobby Dee needs a change of scenery.
  18. This proves this one manager does not look at the small sample size of just 2021 to use as "analytics," otherwise Arroyo looked like the clear choice.
  19. I respect that opinion. I just focused on you saying the whole playoffs and that it was a "fact" we don't win without Price. I have no problem saying Price was the most valuable player in the WS, only. It would have been harder to win that series without him more than probably anyone else, except maybe Nate, but I'm fine with saying Price was numuero uno. My position is that the 2018 was so very strong, we could have won without any one player. Probably not easily, but yes, I think we were that good.
  20. Sounds good, but it's kind of a long shot all of our 3 big prospects will contribute positively, especially right from the start.
  21. .211 That's higher than Dalbec, and he has a .758 OPS in MLB during his short call-up (33 PAs).
  22. It's not like the guy has been this bad his whole career or over the past few years. It's also not like other top 2Bman on last winter's market are tearing the cover off the ball. It looks like a bad signing- no doubt, but he has not even reached the 25% mark of his team control with the Sox. That can be viewed as a bad thing or as a hopeful thing, if he balances out this bad stretch with something that brings him back to his career norm. Kike did help the Dodgers win it all, last year. He was a net plus, just months ago. BTW, here are some numbers from other winter options (AVV x yrs): 2B 15 x 6 LeMahieu (.656 in 251 PAs) 7 x 4 H-S Kim (.585 in 156) 7 x 3 Profar (.614 in 211) 9 x 2 K Wong (.784 in 178) 6.3 x 3 La Stella (.650 in 75) 7 x 2 Kike (.654 in 184) 5 x 1 Cesar Hernandez (.684 in 245) It's easy to say we should have signed Holt instead of Kike, but almost everyone wanted us to go larger at 2B (short term). OF 25 x 6 Springer IL after 4 games 16.3 x 4 Ozuna (.645 in 208) 16 x 2 Brantley (.801 in 179) 12 x 2 JBJ (.504 in 186) 7 x 3 Profar (.614 in 211) 10 x 1 Schwarber (.727 in 203) We could have signed Odorizzi, someone I wrongly wanted, instead of Richards and Perez combined!
