  1. The MN series will be telling. It won’t be cold. We have our best starters going. Keep the 4/4 Max Mojo Rodin’!
  2. Yes, 3 out of his 12 seasons saw him at 4.25 or lower. He did have 2 seasons at 4.28 and 4.32, so make it 5. He had 7 seasons at 4.59 or higher and was at 4.87 his last 4 years combined and 5.55 his last two.
  3. With 14 pitchers on this staff and numerous days off, why make Pivetta go 101 pitches?
  4. I've been high on Pivetta since we traded for him. Yes, the control has always been his downfall. He's always been rated as having very good stuff.
  5. Oh, the wonders of short sample sizes. Just like that... Verdugo's OPS is at .757 (6th inning) Kike's up to .689 after starting off very low. Devers .876 as he's off towards a monster year. Cordero is up to .874. Bogey .799. Marwin, Dalbec & Arroyo are still lagging behind, but there's time for them to bust out.
  6. Nice to not have to face Means twice in these first 6 games vs the O's.
  7. That trade value keeps -a- risin'!
  8. Great to see the silent bats making some noise, as the loud bats keep screaming liners.
  9. I agree with everything, here, but the first thing a new GM would do is fire Boone, who by the way, deserves it, too.
  10. Let's see, if that same guy was wrong about Pivetta sucking, too.
  11. Keep the 4/4 Max Mojo going!
  12. Indeed!
  13. I'm not sure it matters. I think the Sox knew they were not going to sign him had he reached free agency, either. We got Verdugo, Downs, Wong and a mess of money saved for 60 games of Betts. As much as I wanted Betts, here- maybe more than anybody else, that's a winning deal.
  14. Don't look, now, but Whitlock (5.1 IP), Barnes (5.0), Valdez (4.0) and Brice (2.2) have combined to go 17 innings allowing just 5 hits, 1 BB and no ERs. (19Ks- 11 by Barnes!) Add Sawamura (3.0) and it's... 20 IP 6 Hits 4 BB 22K 0 ER Eovaldi & Pivetta have combined for 17.1 IP 9 H 8 BB (WOW!) 15 K 2 ER
  15. Almost as nice as seeing us on top! Almost.
  16. They have had a lot of players out, but that seems to be their MO over the past few years. What did Cashman do about that? He signs and acquires guys like Paxton, Kluber, Taillon and big beefy guys, so muscle bound, they slip in a the shower and pull something. The thing we heard all winter, though was how deep and powerful their bench and farm are. It's early yet, and I wish the Sox had some of the Yankee young players, but they better start doing something, of this could get real ugly in the big apple.
  17. Exactly. All very good signs. We have to remember, though, that we are neither the 0-3 team that started the season and bummed us all out, nor the 5-0 team that is now getting us all excited. We are somewhere in between. We will hit some rough patches again, and we'll likely have some nice winning stretches, as well. One thing that really excites me is that we are 5 and 3 with Sale on the IL, and now Houck at the alt site, plus 6 of our 11 hitters are at .617 or below. They will not stay there for long. We should start seeing some different players starting to contribute in big ways. I'm lovin' the 4/4 Max Mojo!
  18. It's only 8 games, but I'm worried a bit, too.
  19. Our staff is light years better than last year's, and we don't even have Sale back, we have Houck at the alt site, Brasier on the IL and ERod with just 1 start under his belt. Okay, okay, that's the optimist view. I know we'll have some hard stretches here and there, but I like the way this team is coming together. 5-3 sure beats 3-5. 154 to go!
  20. I read this after my post. Nice point, max!
  21. I hated it, at first. It seemed like it cheapened the game and made a mockery of history, but it's growing on me, and I hate 15 inning and 4+ hour games.
  22. Sure looks different than Houck being sent to our alt site.
